iOs 8.1 Mail app keeps asking for iCloud password

Hi Scoobs,

I have exactly the same issue. I enabled airplane mode and tried to send an email. Mail app asked me iCloud password.

Sorry guys spoke to soon it did the same for me a few hours later.

bugger apple will have to fix it seems

This is what I did and it seems to be working... I went to mail, contacts, calendars...opened it...at top is icloud...opened it..I then turned off the mail button on that page....so far so good for me...fingers crossed.

Nothing new to add other than the fact that I have this same problem on iPhone 4 and iPad mini. I'm just feeling the love, knowing that others are as frustrated and annoyed as I am. 🙂

same is happening to me, had my phone replaced, restored, deleted emails, still getting the enter icloud password. all since downloading 8.1

I'm getting the password prompt also probably after restoring my device I now get the prompt on my phone where I was only getting it on my new iPad air after a restore on iOS 8.1. PS on 8.1.1 beta 1 the same problem exists

Same here unfortunately on my iPad Air, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5 all on iOS 8.1. I have tried the steps suggested above, but with no luck. im sad to hear it isn't fixed in the 8.1.1 beta 😟

Hi Go to iTunes sign out then sign back in. If you still have problems Reset to Factory settings this will get rid of bugs Cheers Brian

I have tried both of those options, more than once. It does not work for me.

This frustrating me for a week even after I turned on keychain. What worked was goingn through the keychain motions again than IMMEDIATELY do a hard rest. hasnt popped up since.

Looks like that may be the fix. It hasn't come up again since following your suggestion. Thanks

did work for about 10 minutes then back to asking for icoud password.

This approach seemed drastic but It stopped the pop up for me. I did a restore on the phone and skipped entering the icloud information on the initial setup. This resulted in the popup every time I went to compose an email. So I did another restore and entered my icloud info while doing the initial setup from the "Hello" screen. Since I put it in on the initial screen I have not had the popup return and it has been close to a week. So far so good

Fis is easy enough. Just go to your outgoing Mail serving and change it from the icloud server to the server your primary email uses. Problem solved. Just had to switch mine back to aols served.
