iPhone 6 constantly disconnecting from Audi MMI

My iPhone 6 constantly (and, it appears, randomly) disconnects from the MMI system in my 2013 A6. I updated the cable to the latest version (genuine Audi) to see if this solved the issue but it continues to do so. I didn't have the problem with my iPhone 5 which I never bothered to upgrade to iOS 8, so I suspect it's an iOS 8 problem. I've tried multiple ways of connecting, phone off, connect, then switch on. Phone on, connect, MMI on etc. etc. to no avail. My current suspicion is it may be a charging issue as my phone was 100% charged this morning when I plugged it in, and everything worked fine but when I plugged in this evening (circa 45% charged) the constant disconnecting occurred again. It will connect, play a few seconds/minutes of a track, disconnect and then the process repeats.

Hi, just to let you know I collected my new 4F0051510AL lightning cable yesterday and it has resolved the disconnection problem. I have also tested running the battery down to 10% and connecting my iPhone 6 and it works fine with no more disconnects. 🙂 This is apparently now the correct lightning cable for MMI 3G+.

The cable transfers Album Art but still no Video but at least it resolves this problem.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my 2013 A3 and iPhone 6. My iPhone 4S used to work perfectly, but I can't connect the iPhone 6 via the MMI cable. I first thought the cable was defective but apparently it's not.

The problem is the same I guess: when I plug the phone, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 3-4 seconds, making it impossible to use. My girlfriend also has an iPhone 5C but I didn't try it as I was afraid I could damage her phone if the cable was defective.

Let's hope Apple finds a solution rapidly, as using the phone just via Bluetooth isn't very comfortable to browse tracks when listening to music.

Hi guys, having real problems with this issue. It appears the Bluetooth is working fine so I have my contacts and can receive calls etc.

My aim is to get the music going from my phone whether is be from the iPhone itself or via spotify. Also to try and get it to charge my phone. It appears to work on iPhones 4 with the old cable.

I Have seen other discussions about system updates but I am still ios8 although there is an ios8.1 to be installed. Also seen discussions about battery life making a difference. also some guys have mentioned that the cable code of AD and AL With the green and yellow appears to make some difference?

any advice? Thanks

I'm pretty sure this is not just a charging problem. In my Audi A3 (2013) I'm only using bluetooth for the connection between the iPhone and the car to hear music from Spotify and it keeps disconneting randomly. Yesterday I've been to an Audi distributor, but they didn't have a clue. On my way home I stopped the car and took a video of the disconnects. The thing is even though the music stops playing and the media panel says "looking for bluetooth devices" the phone function still seem to work without a problem. I can see all my contacts or the call history (both of them are not stored on the Audi).

Having same issue with the bluetooth linked to my 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid. Never had any issues with past iphones. In fact, I bought two iphone 6S Plus phones and only one of them is having an issue.Going down the road trying to have a conversation via bluetooth and it keeps disconnecting and you have to grab the phone and talk until it connects again. I have deleted and relinked connections and that has not fixed it.

Hi,

I have the same issue with my A5 Sportback from 2014 since the very beginning With the iphone6. Since last week the iphone did not connect even for the typical couple of seconds. So I changed my cable today and explained tat I expect a final solution from Audi....Today my Audi deales promised to get further info from some specialists. At least today it was the very first time he told me, that he does not expect that it will work even with the new cable. However, unfortunately he was right... Not want I wanted to hear, but at least honest... I will now check the proposal with the extention and an Accu of more than 75%. If someone has another idea, would be great to share it here.

I Can´t believe that two premium high tech companies are not able to solve this issue...it´s a shame!

bye,

Thomas

I've just started getting this problem in the last two weeks.

I have the yellow collar adapter in my 2012 A6 which up to about 2 weeks ago worked fine either direct into my iPhone 6S Plus or via the extension lead shown a few posts up.

But now I'm getting random disconnections. It doesn't seem to be any difference what the charge level is on my phone. I'm running iOS 10.1.1.

Can't remember when the latest version of iOS came out. If it was a couple of weeks ago, then maybe Apple has broken something?
