How can I get rid of a Congratulations-you-won.com-yourprize.com pop up window on my iPad? It wants me to answer ok but I'm afraid it is a virus.

How can I get rid of a Congratulations-you-won.com-yourprize.com pop up window in Safari on my iPad?

It wants me to click on OK but I'm afraid it is a virus or something.

It reads:

Your iPad has chosen as today's lucky winner.

You have won a brand new iPhone 6.

Act quickly, and confirm you are the owner of this iPad.

Then there is only an OK button for me to push.

Everything else on the screen is gray. I can't access anything else on Safari.

I tried pressing the home button and sleep button at the same time to do a reset but this did not take care of the problem.

Please help.

Thanks!

iPad, iOS 7.1.2

This is an information phishing scam. Is trying to get you to enter your information and does not leave any virus on your system.

HERE'S HOW TO GET OUT EASY:

TURN ON AIRPLANE MODE

CLOSE THE BROWSER APP BY DOUBLE CLICKING HOME BUTTON AND FLICKING BROWSER UP (This works for Safari or chrome )

RE-OPEN THE BROWSER APP

CLICK ON ITS FRIGGIN ANNOYING BUTTON. NO HARM WILL HAPPEN

YOU'LL GET A SCREEN WHERE IT WANTS YOU TO ANSWER A QUESTION OR GIVE INFO

BUT YOURE NOT CONNECTED TO ITS SITE, SO NO HARM!

YOU CAN NOW CLICK ON A NEW BROWSER WINDOW USING THE DOUBLED BOX ICON

OPEN ONE. It will be clean

Close the offending window

TURN OFF AIRPLANE MODE!

at this point, the whole scam disappears and you're clear of it!

Didn't mean to shout, but I wanted to be sure you got the solution

On my iPad I had the Congratulations pop up and a four viruses one.

I tried a soft reset (turning off) and clearing Safari history but neither gave a lasting solution. The soft reset is a good, short term solution.

What seems to have worked is deleting Google then downloading it from the Appstore.

I did the same with Chrome just in case.

So far so good.

I suspect I gained the pop ups when I down loaded a soduko game from an offer on another game, not via the Appstore. Its just a guess but I will not be doing that again.

I got rid of the soduko game too.

Thank you, I tried all the previous steps but the only thing that worked was this.

The only problem now is that since I started getting the popup I had updated a page on my website and now whenever anyone tries to go to my website they get the popup! If they contact me I can tell them the above steps you mentioned, if they are keen to access the site, but what about the ones who don't contact me and just give up. I'm worried of losing business because people can't get past the popup when I share links on Facebook, etc. Is it only links clicked via FB that are the problem?

Any ideas how to actually prevent the popup appearing on my sites to other people?

I have same question as appleuser1556 (see below) : what happens if you click ok and go through some of the questions?

I got this on my ipad, and I turned off my wi-fi thinking that then I could click okay and get out of it without downloaded anything malicious. I clicked okay and it brought me to a page which I did not even read because I panicked at that point (I was not expecting any new page to appear because the wi-fi was off). So I clicked out of the window before I could think straight, and I don't even know what it said. Is it possible that they have installed anything on my ipad or stolen any information? I did go into settings and deleted my Safari history at that point. I am usually careful about these things but I lost my head for a moment.

Hi, hoping that someone can help me. I have a similar problem as the topicstarter.

Currently have the following devices:

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1, U.S. Apple ID

iPad Air2, iOS 9.2.1., Dutch Apple ID (recently moved from the Netherlands to the U.S. didn't change my Apple ID yet)

MacBook Pro retina, early 2015, OS X El Capitan 10.11.3, U.S. Apple ID

Now when I visit a certain website on my iPhone, ajax.network.to (from my favorite Dutch soccer club), I keep getting pop-ups that try and link me through to a website with a pop-up claiming I won something. I have been visiting this website on an near-daily basis without problems up until today. When I try and visit the same website from my iPad or Macbook I do not experience this nuisance. Same happens when in Facebook and I click through a link to go to a local Dutch news website (only that one!). Again, only happens on my iPhone.

iPhone is rather new (Dec. '15) and didn't jailbreak or anything. What could this be and how to solve it? Obviously tried erasing history/data, turning iPhone off/on. I want to keep visiting these websites and since I do not experience this problem on my iPad or with my MacBook I doubt that the problem is on the websites end?

Please help! Thanks in advance!!!

We can rule the router out. All devices are connected to the same network. Just turned off Wifi on my phone. Cleared all data and history and visited the website and was again prompted with the problem. My wife doesn't have this problem on the same network with her iPhone / iPad / Macbook so somehow it really seems isolated to my iPhone ...
