will apple replace my slightly bent iphone 6?

I bought my iphone 6 about 1 month ago, and recently i notice it is a little bent.

Its not a big issue and the phone still works it just looks really weird and im worried it might get worse.

I didn't put the phone in my back pocket at all or try to bend it in any way so im pretty sure its not my fault.

If i take this to apple will they replace/fix my phone for free?

I have an iPhone 6 Plus which has somehow become bent. Apple have told me in writing that this is a technical hardware issue and the second of their four suggested options is to post on this forum. I am therefore doing what Apple suggested and assume that I can in fact post about this in here.

It is possible that there might be an issue with the overall design or a manufacturing fault in a limited number of iPhones and therefore I am doing as directed by Apple and posting on this forum.

I had problems with an iMac 27" screen in the past which users on the Apple iMac forum couldn't solve but did report as having the same fault. The thread became one of the most viewed on the Apple Forums and in the end I did get my iMac screen replaced FOC well out of warranty. Therefore highlighting an issue users are having may, or may not, highlight a wider number of occurrences.

When I first heard about people with bent iPhones my immediate reaction was that this was just an attempt to rubbish the phones near launch by a competitor, or was people not looking after their iPhones properly. However when it actually happened to me I got quite a shock and my whole attitude changed. Even more so when Apple has said they WILL NOT REPLACE ANY IPHONE 6 or 6 PLUS phones with ANY sort of bend damage. Don't be too quick to dismiss my problem. It may be your next problem, it was mine.

That is a fair enough reply, I suppose.

However what Apple have actually stated to me is that Apple Company Policy is that they will not replace any iPhone 6 or 6 Plus that has any sort of bend damage under any condition. So that answers the original posters comment. NO they will not replace it.

Also answers any potential iPhone 6 purchaser who is worried about what would happen if their iPhone ever gets bend damage. NO they will not replace it.

Hi Iain,

I feel your frustration. I bought my 6 Plus last week, and dropped it on the third day!! My luck has always been a little shady. I took it to the apple store, they charged me $79 for screen replacement. I came home, and realized I lost the love for the phone since it has already been modified in a way. I was really upset, just like you may be right now, but I did a little research and discovered that for $79, I should have had my phone replaced, not repaired! (I have applecare). This time, I didn't even bother to go into an Apple store. Instead, I called Apple at 1-800-692-7753 (Canada). Within minutes, they processed a shipping order for me to get my new phone! I just returned my old 6+ my mail.

See if that helps, perhaps may you already have tried. Just trying to help!

Confirmed Apple Store in Charlotte will NOT take back the Iphone 6 due to bending. I have a pretty good bend were the glass is separated from the casing. Genius bar stated that is Apple policy. Then stated they had more Iphone 5 and 4s bent then 6. Funny, never had a bend problem with my 4.

I became a loyal Apple fan due to their quality product and most importantly quality service....now it just seems like all I hear is excuses...are they falling into the traps that Dell and HP did??

Although I cannot say for sure whether or not Apple will replace your device, I can say that a bent enclosure is covered under warranty so long as there is no physical damage, i.e. a point of impact, cracked display, or anything else indicating some type of force to the phone. Just back up your data, make a reservation and I'm sure they will take care of you. Best of luck!

You can say whatever you want but bent enclosure is NOT covered under warranty.

so long as there is no physical damage,

If the iPhone is bent, there is physical damage.
Metal (which does not bend on its own) is bent.

anything else indicating some type of force to the phone.

Bent metal indicates a type of force applied to the iPhone.

And they still provide both. Just because in your particular situation you didn't get the result you wanted doesn't mean they didn't provide correct service options to you.

Your phone didn't bend on its own. It was damaged by some external force.
