Yosemite 10.10.1 causing Safari not to play YouTube videos...

Hi guys/girls,

I installed Yosemite on my iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) when it was first released and I had no issues whatsoever.

Last night I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 and now all of a sudden Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) won't play any YouTube videos. All I get is a black screen with a little audio clipping.

When using Firefox (v32.1.1) or Chrome (v38.0.2125.122) everything works ok.

Any thoughts?

OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007)

On youtube I have the disc full of circling dots spinning for minutes than it does not work. Loaded the latest adobe. Still no solution.

Same problems here Youtube is unplayable in Safari but plays fine in Firefox.

Hello, I have the same youtube's problem too.

Moreover i have noticed that in the scrolling there is an overlapping of the images, has anyone the same problem with that new update?

Also have this issue. Chrome works fine as does FireFox.

Same issue for me! 10.10.1 Safari has the issue, but Chrome and Firefox are fine. Hope we get this fixed soon!

Hello!

There is nothing about update to 10.10.1 I didn"t update my MacBook yet and also have the same problem.

Looks like its something between youtube and Safari for MacBook...

Iphone is playing videos very well

waiting for good solutions

Selecting Safari 7.1 also seems to work, at least for me. It is now fairly clear that this is an HTML5 video stream issue as Flash content plays just fine. I think YouTube is seeing Safari 8 and defaulting to HTML5.

I'm having the same problems but when I updated Java from system preferences. My youtube videos started to work on Safari.

well my macbook pro without the 10.10.1 update had the problem as well ... all of a sudden ... since like 1h or so ... played youtube clips ok before ... not sure what happened .... i did not update on that machine ... so i'm not sure if its actually 10.10.1 related .... more like youtube did update something and safari has issues with that now .... just a guess
