Yosemite 10.10.1 causing Safari not to play YouTube videos...

Hi guys/girls,

I installed Yosemite on my iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) when it was first released and I had no issues whatsoever.

Last night I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 and now all of a sudden Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) won't play any YouTube videos. All I get is a black screen with a little audio clipping.

When using Firefox (v32.1.1) or Chrome (v38.0.2125.122) everything works ok.

Any thoughts?

Hi!

I spent the whole afternoon talking to apple support, two tech guys, both cannot figure out what was wrong. we tried everything... literally everything and none works after hours. In the end they suggested calling adobe for the issue (not doing that - perhaps another waste of time), just download the chrome and firefox for now until they resolve the issue.

I have the same issue. I upgraded to Yosemite after waiting to hear that there was a fix put in place to reolve the wifi issues that had been getting so much attention. After the upgrade, I tried to look at a product review on Youtube, and it wouldn't play. I updated Adobe, but that didn't really help. I was able to see one video, but the links to other videos stopped working. Tried looking at a video on Vimeo and Break and those worked just fine. Contacted Apple support and they saidit could be my internet provider because they tried it on their end and it worked. Ultimately, I installed Chrome and had no problems on Youtube.

Same issue here! Please fix.

It’s Google that needs to do the fixing. They own YouTube. I have visited numerous other website that use HTML5 video as well as sites that use Flash and ALL are working just fine. it’s ONLY YouTube that is screwing up. It’s NOT Yosemite, it’s not Safari 8, it’s YouTube.
