Hey, I can't seem to update to the latest version of safari. I click on update in the store and it looks as if it's going to update, then it says it's installed but it hasn't. It then goes back to having the 'update' button again.
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
I think Apple took the update down. I'm still on 8.0 and the update isn't showing up in the store.
This has happened to me too! Safari is completely gone with a question mark. I'm using Chrome. Apple's software woes continue. Get these guys in shape, Cook.

FWIW, I downloaded and installed 8.0.1 on a 2012 27" iMac, 10.10.1 about a half hour ago. Installed and is running with no problems.
Went to do the same on my 13" MBA and the update doesn't appear to be on the store.
Won't pretend to make any sense of all this.
Same situation here. My iMac 27" is configured to install update automatically. It did crash on me today for the first time. Safari is gone. The update page of the appstore shows the installation of 2 updates ... twice.
I'm on a Macbook Pro Retina, and I too see the update applied twice in the App Store.
I'm having the same problem of the Vanishing Safari. Safari is gone and there are two instances of the update to 8.0.1.
They seem to have pulled the update on MAS. Is there any reason why you guys are reinstalling the whole OS, isn't Safari still a download on its own.....??
So... I guess I have lost all my tabs in Safari... great for my job... What are you doing Apple?????????? I hope they fix this as soon as possible because this is a complete disaster, especially if they do things like this trying to compete with Chrome or Firefox.. Maybe this is the last time I use Safari although they repair the damage done.

go to http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1825558 and grab the 8.0.1 package for your release directly from the CDN and install.
Better than reinstalling OSX.
Apple just removed the Safari update 8.0.1 from AppStore.
Thank god, this buggy update isn't available anymore. So, it was really systematic issue.
As we can see, this is the same story as an iOS 8.0.1 update.
Apparently, 8.0.1 is some kind of "unlucky release number" for Apple.
This works and downloaded it and reinstalled. All works OK
Now I can't update flash pffff 😮
