I have an iMac (27 inch, mid 2011) using 10.10.1. Considering the terrible internet/wifi experience I had weeks ago after updating to 10.10, I have been hesitant to update to 10.10.1 which I did today, and everything seems great. Next to do today was to update Safari, but first I read several articles, as well as comments in the Apple support communities, it appears that the Safari update 8.0.1 is not available--Apple has "pulled it". Procrastination can be a good thing?
Weeks ago when 10.10 was installed, Safari was so slow to open and so quick to crash. Absolutely unacceptable. The only resolution to the Safari problem weeks ago was to stop using Safari (for the first time since the birth of Safari) and use an outside child browser. Concerned about security issues, I looked forward to returning to Safari with the update and find today it is not available--again, procrastination can be a good thing. So, I am not going to update Safari until a week or two after Apple on the Apple website says it is good to go.
WEIRD thing is that today I quit Chrome, dug out Safari 8.0 that did not function in any way when I updated to 10.10, opened Safari and--it is working brilliantly. Have been using it for hours and restarting multiple times to find that Safari 8 that did not work at all for me weeks ago does work today. Enjoyed old Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, and many others on youtube. Lucky? Not all so much. Uninstalling Google Chrome is a challenge.
Just sharing what I have learned. Although a dedicated Mac user since 1988, what is truly great is that I don't need to know too much to have any Mac sing for me. Thanks.
