Line spacing/missing text issues on browser and apps

Hi,

I would like to ask why is my line spacing/webpages on my imac look like this (please see screenshot below)

It doesn't only happen on an outlook web based email via browser, I noticed it on other websites as well specially with forms etc... This one is also appearing on apps like my notepad if you noticed it on my screenshot.

I tried troubleshooting it by myself by:

Using Chrome, Firefox browsers but no luck

Installed Adobe flash guessing it might work but still the same

Checked the enable javascript tab in Safari but same result

I'm totally hopeless and posting here is my last resort. I'm guessing it has something to do with updating some scripts or plugins on my Imac or changing something in the settings but I'm totally clueless on which one.

Hoping for a response regarding this issue

Would one of the following be in order?

Safe Boot? would it matter?
Login to Mac as another user - new user?

Keeping in mind...

seems .aspx forum pages only affected
browser independent

Hi ChitlinsCC,

I would like to do the option from the link you pasted, but for now I won't be able to do it since I'm working and I can't afford to reboot my machine for now, same as your option James to reboot my router since I'm not the IT admin here, I'm just a typical designer who sits in the corner of an office trying to be professional but perverted in nature

I was trying to do James request by showing screenshot of a non web app like NOTES I went to a random website and was supposed to copy/paste text to notes and look what I found more Cydia Pomonella (apple worm) which shows how rotten my fruit is.

Have you created a new user account and tested whether you have the same problem when logged into that?

Hi Tom,

Yes I just did it now by creating a new user and logging in my OWA via Safari and still having the same issue 😟 I tried doing a screenshot for Safari and Notes but never insisted since It will be redundant to post another screens.

You have unwittingly told us some possibly vital information:

You are at work in an office setting
You have an IT ADMIN that can help and/or add information to the mix
You may be able to reproduce this issue on a co-workers Mac (or at least Ask Around about them having the issue too)
If push comes to shove, you could take your LIGHTWEIGHT iMac into another office and try to reproduce

Don't Smack-A-Mac your iMac quite yet... unless you have one of these 😎

chin up - we LOVE to solve mysteries around here. Too often, things are easy, canned answers.

It is pretty clear that the problem is NOT " between the chair and the keyboard " as many issues are

with patience and methodical measures, we'll find it and kill it, eventually (I hope)

Very rotten fruit I have, and yes we have an IT admin(outsource) which this was already brought up and what a brilliant suggestion they gave...

Just use Outlook Software instead of OWA via browser!

....very brilliant!!! I almost vomit.

Knowing a worm resides in my fruit disgust me still!!!

I'm still hoping and considering someone here has the same issue as mine and was able to solve it.

Interesting job you guys have here and nice to meet everyone who pitch in their thoughts.

I feel ya, MrJM - unfortunately, my suggestions are still in the "Discovery" phase of our little project - next steps that I have in that quest:

ask around the office - REALLY ask Around - so you know for sure whether or not it is isolated to you only
if you are "alone in your troubles" - tote your Mac to a different office of some kind soul - you know their network setup is OK

I really don't like your IT admin's attitude of "If it hurts your thumb to hit it with a hammer, don't do it!" - his/her participation may need to be more of an "indian" than a "chief" from here on.

As I said, we are still in Discovery - mostly what it is NOT. There are still some fine fellow members that have not discovered this and participated. If no joy after we exhaust our ideas, we can just ask 'em to take a look.

we guys here don't do this as a job, we are users just like you! I personally am a retired Graphic Design / Interactive Developer / Jack-of-all-trades-Master-of- a-couple. My JOB is caregiver to my Mom(88) with Alzheimer's and my geriatric Siberian Husky(15py/105dy).

I'll try to work on my side, but I am the only one who uses MAC here 🙂 Windows they preferred I might say. I'll bring my Macbook and try to work around.

'Tis good news you have a MB to bring in to the mix. That may not give us anything more than another what it's NOT datum, though.

If by here you mean the forums, it may be that there has -- unfortunately, searching is an art rather than science. Your issue cannot be boiled down to a few words, methinks.

Hi All,

After 22 days the Cydia(apple worm) which made my fruit rotten was found.

It was so random that it became noticeable when I opened a .doc file with 2 differrent fonts in it.

And here is the CULPRIT

My HELVETICA font. Of course, Notes app and all my browsers, Safari, Chrome, Firefox uses FONTS!!!!

And I have no f**k'n idea what triggered the damaged on my Helvetica. I removed it on my users/library/fonts directory and

wallah ....magic!!!

Just thought of sharing this to everyone so in the future if ever someone came across this issue through Mr. know everything Google he might point you out to my thread.

That must have been one you downloaded from someplace and installed yourself. Apple's Helveticas are in System/Library/Fonts.

Hi Tom,

Sorry that's what i meant where I deleted it instead of users, since my account is admin so I'm guessing they are link together correct me if I'm wrong. Because when I deleted it from there, I tried going to System/Library/Fonts to double check and it's not there anymore as well.

macintosh hd/system/library/fonts

Is it possible it got replaced by accident?

The 3 font folders (system/library, library, user/library) are all independent of each other. The user one is empty by default. This shows what Apple puts in the other 2:

Hi Tom,

This proved as well that the damaged Helvetica was in the system/library/fonts since I created a new user before and the same issue still occured.
