If you just bought it last week the most I'd do is reset the phone by holding both the home button and sleep button at the same time for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears. You won't lose any data. You could also try restoring the phone but since it's brand new I'd just take it back to where you bought it and tell them it's not working properly. They'll likely just give you a new one. If you do want to restore it follow these instructions: Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
This just started happening to my iPhone 6 earlier today. I also have two videos of this happening to one of my users iPhones (6 plus). The video's shows his messaging and bank apps opening and closing all on their own. I personally think some one has figured out how to hack the Mac iOS and is remotely controlling these iPhone's. the original message in this thread was posted in January and no one from apple support has responded. why? very fishy.
I think the best course of action here is to delete all unnecessary apps. if that doesn't work you might have to completely reset your phone and NOT restore any of it's config from your iClound account. Remember your phone backs up to your iCloud automatically (unless you turned that feature off) so all you'll be doing is reinfecting your phone with the Malware app if you restore it from your latest backup.
If my assumptions are correct that is. 😕
Was anyone else using a tempered glass screen protector? It had been used on a previous phone, so it wasn't adhering 100%. I'd say about 90%. I removed the screen protector, and it seems to have fixed the problem. Still a little early to be 100% conclusive, but it's looking like that's the case. I hope so because I want to restore everything.
There's nothing that can be done to correct it. It appears to be a problem with the chip. Google "touch disease" and there's a load of related sites explaining why it can't be corrected. Apparently, Apple haven't yet admitted there is a problem.
If you'd bother to read this thread, you would know that this is a hardware problem. The phone will need to be serviced / replaced.
I had the same problem, if you have a glass cover take it out. That was my problem.
Clean the screen really well even if you don’t see anything. It totally worked for me. I tried full factory resets and almost left the Apple world. Clean the screen!
My iPhone was (and might still be--jury's still out) doing this. If your phone is under warranty, bring it in to the Apple store to have them crack it open, disconnect and reconnect the display cables. If you are already outside of your warranty (as I am) and have access to a pentalobe driver and a small phillip's head screwdriver, you should be able to do this yourself. iFixit has a great tutorial to do this yourself. Check it out:

So far, no random apps opening or unmade swipes/taps. Promising.
Had same problem today with random apps launch on IPhone 6, it doesn't look to me like hardware faulty it's more looks like a hack. So I turned phone off, opened ITunes form laptop and changed password, than restarted phone and changed Pass code too. And volia seems like problem is gone!
I am having the same issue. It has been happening for quite some time. I have met with the "Genius Bar" three times. Now my phone is out of warranty so of course nothing else can be done. Others are saying it is a hardware issue and you have to take it to the Genius bar. Per the genius bar techs it is not a hardware issue it is a software issue and it is happening to many iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, and 6s Plus. First time it was under warranty so I received a replacement phone, 4 months later the same thing started happening to the new phone, I took it back to the Genius Bar, and they ran check-ups to make sure it is not the digitizer or a hardware issue. He then wiped my phone clean (more intense then home users restoring it to factory settings) and what he did fixed the phone for 6-7 months, now it is happening again and my warranty ran out (warranty is from the original purchase of the phone and not the replacement phone is what the Genius bar technician is saying); therefore, they can't do anything to help me. My contract is up in 5 months so either I have to deal with it or purchase a new phone at retail cost (which I will guarantee you is not going to be an iPhone). We have 2 other iPhones and they are not having the issue (luckily they have not updated to the newest 9.3 or 9.3.1 or 9.3.2 iOS). No one seems to know why it is happening and while others are insisting it is a hardware issue on this forum take it from someone who seems to be living at the Genius bar the technicians are saying it is NOT a hardware issue.
I restored the phone to factory settings twice and it kept happening. I had to send 2 phones back and did a restore from a previous version in order for it to work. This was after updating to the new IOS. My recommendation would be to wipe the phone to factory and do a non-recent backup as it appears as though my most recent backups were buggy.
Hope this helps because it is sooooo annoying when this happens.
I'm back! And it seems to have been a success!
I restored my 5C to factory setting and treated like new a phone, not restoring the junk that was previously on it, going through each app and signing back into ever account I have (I lost count at 45).
It seems to have fixed the phantom-finger/touch disease and even the battery seems to keep its charge!
So if you decide to restore your phone, do it, but don't restore it with a backup. Start fresh!
You might need a day off work to complete the task though. In all fairness, these smart phones are like a part of our being nowadays, so these manufacturers should be issuing us with sick notes for days off work when their devices fail... just a thought
Did you do the most recent IOS upgrade? That is what triggered mine. Wipe it and go to a restore prior to problem starting and it should work.
I was having the same issue ....for me it's the aftermarket charging cable
Both my wife and I have the same issue on our new iPhone 6's. I suspect an electronic noise immunity issue with the touchscreen hardware. It seems to happen when an app just opens, then a cascade of random things can happen. I'm hoping for an iOS update with a firmware workaround (increased filtering if the touchscreen noise sensitivity is the issue...). And those suggesting a reset or to clean the screen are just guessing and haven't seen the issue. The screen's not dirty, the screen protector doesn't have issues, this is a real system design issue. Capacitive touchscreens sense minute changes in charge. A dirty touchscreen isn't going to randomly inject charge, certainly not as often as we see the issue (a few to several times a day with moderate to frequent use). It's an annoyance but not enough to want to change phones unless it gets worse or randomly does something very irritating (like false touch "send" on an email being composed).
Can you make a video of your phone playing up and show the serial number on the back with a friend's phone? Maybe take that in as proof?
Mind did the same thing (played up intermittently) but as soon as it did it couple weeks back, I drove straight to service provider and it was normal for a few seconds but acted up on cue, thankfully.
