Can I go back to an older OS?

I upgraded to Yosemite in the early autumn. My 2011 iMac has always had a tendency to crash (programs or whole computer) but that increased after installing Yosemite. I never upgraded to Mavericks though. I think I was using Snow Leopard before.

iMac, iOS 7.0.4

Nope, AppCleaner is just more junk that fails to do what it says on the box.

Stop looking for a magic button, there isn't one unfortunately.

Sorry to disappoint you this time Csound1, but this time you are a bit on the wrong side. The application was written by a frequent poster on this site, and it works. It just automates (scripting), the manual steps to remove troublesome applications. It does not come in a box, and does not make "claims"

It has been used successfully by many on this very site before, and continuous to be used.

Michele there was also some audio utilities installed by Tascam. We will show you how to remove them manually if the vendor's instructions fails to remove them.

😊 Time difference between our locations does not make it easier to be at the Mac when you post.

By "name them" are you asking me to be more specific which items on the list I was referring to? All the ones you listed that include "wdc.driver". I don't need that to run the EHD? I clicked on Support and it does go to support for Western Digital.

I did the AppCleaner because Leopardus told me to and Lex said the one I found was a good source. So you're saying they gave wrong advice?

I went to the Tascam website and made several searches but can't find information about uninstalling them. I'll come back to it later.

After that I went to Akamai's website and followed something they have in their FAQ. I don't see Akamai on this latest Etrecheck, so I'm guessing I got rid of it.

EtreCheck version: 2.1.5 (108)

I just wanted you to explain what you meant by

I thought the first ones on that list are drivers for the EHD and that I need drivers for an EHD I'm using. No?

Which drivers did you mean, none of the first ones on the list have anything to do with wd, you have to get to the fourth on the list, so, once again and by name only, which drivers were you referring to.

Near the top of that list, after the tascam item, it lists four items with wdc.driver in their names. I clicked on Support, saw the wd does indeed stand for Western Digital and I'm wondering why you are telling me to delete drivers (or what I'm assuming to be drivers because of that word in the name!) when this is my EHD that I use multiple times every day, containing all my data (or might be the other EHD which is backing up one of my husband's film projects and we keep it plugged in so Backblaze will keep it backed up; however I haven't re-plugged that one in since yesterday, so it's not that, is it). Are they not drivers, despite the name? What are they then? I'm understandably nervous about deleting things. I don't want to make my computer problems worse!

Hi Michele,

Select this line, or click three times on any part of it to select it

/System/Library/LaunchAgents

Press Command-C to copy it

Could you open the Finder or Press Alt-Command-Spacebar. Select Go to Folder under the Go menu. Next in the window that opens press Command-V to paste and go there.

Look for the offending files under your EtreCheck listing in this list and tell me when you have found them. I want to make sure that you have found the right ones.

Change the last part from LaunchAgents to LaunchDaemons and do the same. Tell us.

What time suits you tomorrow? Your time, which time zone?

SAFARI

Click on the menu bar Safari. Navigate to Preferences. Go to Extensions and you will find all of them there. Uninstall all the unwanted extensions from the list in your EtreCheck.

Ok Michele,

Look here

/Library/LaunchAgents

and here

/Library/LaunchDaemons

We will use the same process to go to the Internet Plug-ins. It is important to note, as with LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons, that there are more places where they will be found, at the System level and the User Level.

We will make sure with every delete or uninstall that all the traces of offending utilities are gone from your system, whether we use the Vendor's instructions or manual removal. But we will test all the way to ensure before permanently removing. Don't remove or delete anything as root

Can I go back to an older OS?
