Constantly Resetting on charge

I too Have the same problem.

Suddenly my iphone 5 has started rebooting automatically. Initial 3 days it was not showing charging status correctly. Then Started restarting. I have restored it with backup as well as to the new setting without any extra software but no luck.

i have observed a strange thing. Normally it will show battery status but for me it is not showing battery status to correct one and stick to random %. benefit of this is my phone stop rebooting. 🙂 its a disadvantage also as I will not able to know my phones battery capacity. 😟 But it keeps rebooting at any time.

This bug has pattern for each and everybody. For me if it starts rebooting and it will constantly rebooting for 5 to 6 hours and each hour it has count of 16 or 17. Apple pls do something if you are reading this info. Its really not worth spending such a huge amount for a phone which you never know when it will give you surprise 😉.

just like clockwork!! 7 days since I "fixed" it - FSTaskScheduler runs and it again crashes ios 8.3

So I

(a) close all applications on the iphone (4S in my case)

(b) plug inot PC and using iTunes , I ask to restore the phone (allow it to backup, yes understand it will restore all setting,accept IOS 8.3 agreement) and then whilst it starts the download from apple, kill off iTunes, hardware reset phone .... problem goes away, and most settings are retained...

Only problem is when you plug into PC running iTunes this can cause the phone to do its restarting so you need to make sure (by activating the iphone screen - scrolling menus left/right) enough to avoid the iphone going to sleep, causing it to crash until at least iTunes restore has done something!!!....

Again I ask, what is FSTaskScheduler and why does it crash IOS 8.3 with the getbufzone: incorrect size = 0 error message - PLEASE EXPLAIN!!

What is the point of having diagnostics that point to an error but having no-one able to explain what it means and what can be done about it!!

This is the one thing that really makes me want to go android!! At least you have someone who at least seems to care about our problems!! I would not upgrade to iphone x until I see a change in policy regarding us still trying to make our old phones continue to work when they are able to do so!!

PS. Ever gone into a phone shop, started up the latest iphone 6 and checked out the diagnostics and data setting and seen what apps crash all the time!! Whilst thye may be user apps and don't cause the phone to restart, its still a worry that apple's own software has so many bugs!!

Ok, so the problem resurfaced after the normal 7 days (making it the 10 JUL for me) and so I decided to download the 8.4 update instead!!! Well to my surprise the problem has now gone!!!! . I waited the normal 7 days delay and not it has not returned!! MY PHONE HAS RETURNED!!!

I 'm not sure if apple fixed this (as they don't say) or if I have just been lucky... so I'm sticking with 8.4, my phone is going good and I have not had this reset problem since. Just goes to prove it was system software after all as I have all my apps still!

Still never found out what FSTASKSCHEDULER was nor do I see a way to determine this.... But this particular problem has caused me to serious consider moving to another phone... Wonder what IOS 10 will be like :-)

I was at a Genius Bar. They opened it and checked the battery, which was fine (which wasn´t a new fact for me, I used iBackupBot, full charge capacity still OK). They mentioned the not original anymore screen I replaced when killing the original one. They basically told me, to live with the FREEZES/REBOOTS because it´s pretty likely it´s the logic board. Apple does not sell them, it would be 279 € for getting a replacement device (most likely a refurbished). They also recommended to not restore the iPhone, because during this process the restore might fail and lead e. g. to an error 53 code, which means: put the device as defect on ebay.

I did a few further checks by myself like changing battery and display again to other/original hardware, also checked several connectors, removed battery health apps etc.. Didn´t make any difference, still FREEZED/REBOOTED.

Today I did, what I didn´t for a very long time - about the same period of time, the iPhone suffers from those panic.ips WDT timeout FREEZES/REBOOTS: I did an iOS update using iTunes, instead of the (much quicker, but only incremental) OTA update. Using iTunes the full operating system is replaced, not only the changed parts.

After the iOS 9.3.1 update I performed a few tests, which usually guaranteed lead to a FREEZE/REBOOT, like e. g. performing app updates. I collected them the last days, 18 updates without a problem. At the beginning it "soft-freezed" (clock didn´t change for a few minutes), but the hardware was functional (like e. g. working display brightness sensor or still playing music), it ended with "apps can´t be loaded at the moment" message. Performed the updates again, finish. iOS now managed to NOT run into a timeout ("WDT timeout"), there was no REBOOT, no panic.ips. So I guess it was a defect system file/setting, which was replaced by an original/not defect.

I´ll monitor this closely the next days and weeks, but for the first time after 15 months I´m really confident.

To all the others still suffering from the same: It MIGHT be worth a try (iOS update using iTunes). Did you also perform the iOS updates always via OTA? panic.ips seems to has several reasons, so there´s no guarantee it will work - maybe just give it a try (after performing an iTunes backup of course).
