Unbelievable that this problem still occurs almost 2 years after this thread started. What worked for me was unpairing (including backup and resetting the watch) and repairing the watch.
For those who did not do that before (like me): No worries, your watch (esp. settings, apps, watchfaces) will be like before. Steps are described on https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204568.
The other solutions above like doing a simple or nearby search did not work for me.
It works fine now! No reboot needed, congrats to Apple!
Its working for me now too. I had an open case and turned off Bluetooth to my Pebble watch.
wow works for me now too. i didn't reset or reboot anything. i think apple just fixed it on their end without a patch. very impressive to nip this in the bud so quickly. i'd be curious if it doesn't work for anybody still?
Looks like apple is smart! Thanks apple and people for contacting apple, especially those who spent hours in the store.
After trying anything and everything to fix this problem for several days, this last tip from Johnnyfent actually worked!!!! It took about an hour, so don't expect immediate results. But it fixed it for sure!
CHANGE YOUR IPHONE MAP SETTING FROM STANDARD TO HYBRID! Well done, Johnnyfent.

Hey everyone, was reading all of these, I had the same problem but figured out a fix.
Just open Maps on your phone, tap the "i" in the bottom right hand corner, switch it from Standard to Hybrid and then open maps on your watch. It will take a minute to load but will start working!
Hope this helps everyone.
I also reset my iPhone, Watch, and hard rebooted both before with no results.
Thank you for the tip. It worked for me. Saved me a lot of hours, apart from reading all these posts. I hope there is a fix for everyone else soon.
Hey Guys,
I've been reading this thread for the last few days and thought I might try something different. And it seem liked it worked for me. I think the problem lies with updating your phone iOS from within the phone.
1. You'll need to UNPAIR your watch with your phone. Do that first.
2. Plug your iPhone into iTunes.
3. Create a Back UP.
4. Download a new copy of iOS 8.3, Either in iTunes or one of the IPSW website. (Or Easier Restore iPhone)
5. Once you've restore your iPhone leave it connected to do a Restore BackUp.
6. Let everything Sync up via iTunes for all your apps and settings to come across.
7. RePair the Phone and Watch. But don't restore Watch from BackUP. Start it as a new watch.
8. Maps Should now work. (well it did for me at lest)
Good Luck and I hope it helps all of you.
MINE FINALLY WORKS!!! I did hard resets and NOTHING- however after many app downloads AND change the order of glances, it finally picked it up. I think it just needs that to "kick in" I highly recommend you all try this, download some cool stuff and reorg the "glances" section in the phone app, and go back to your watch.... I saw my maps load in glances, and freaked. That's what did it for me. The above. The reorg.

there is mounting evidence that the fix was effected on Apple's side of the deal. Look for the words "did nothing" and "magical" and "god came down from heaven" and such - there are several that report success with some workaround that may have actually had no effect - just coincidence - maybe you too? stay tuned and see...

Toggling Bluetooth worked for me - but only by turning off Bluetooth and WiFi,mthen turning Bluetooth on alone to force the iPhone to use it to connect to the Watch. Maps is now displaying as expected. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I tried all the things above, with not a positive result, except for the 'let's sleep a night and see what the next day will bring'.
and it did: Maps is working again.
here's what I did exactly (though I don't know if that is absolutely necessary):
Maybe it was a server side problem and Apple was able to fix it without any client side update necessary. Thanks anyway!
Johnntfent.... THANKYOU !!!!
I have tried everything and was almost at a point of excepting that it would not be fixed until Apple put out the next software update.
Simply selected hybrid view on iPhone maps then...... BOSH!!!.... maps working straight away on watch. 🙂🙂🙂
Amazing!!
This has worked for me also
I had some Jam headphones and In Car Bluetooth as Bluetooth devices.
Told my phone to forget these devices, turned off bluetooth, turned back on and Maps now load
Well done folks!!
Apple Genius you are!!
Fantastic! As you guys suggested. I turned off Wi Fi then turned blue tooth off and back on and maps just loaded like magic!
Many Thanks!
Togled Bluetooth and all now working for me also. Whether it was this or Apple side It's now working fine. Many thanks.
