No sound or haptic for notifications or alarms

This was working fine yesterday, but today I realized I no longer was receiving sound/haptic alerts. It became more obvious when I set an alarm and nothing happened except for the message on the screen. I checked to see if the volume/vibration level was turned down, if it was in silent mode, or in “do not disturb” mode. The iPhone was locked, so notifications were not being directed there.

I called Apple Support and they verified I checked everything. They suggested turning the watch off and on and it then worked (doh… that is the first thing I would do on another device! I guess I still don’t think about turning off a watch!). It seems there may be a bug in this 1.0 software/hardware (what a shock!).

I write this here to see if this is a common issue, or if I was just lucky. Please respond if you experienced this and if turning off the watch cured the problem.

Oh my god. Thank you.

I’m deaf and this watch has been infuriating to say the least and making me angry for the past two weeks. Like, I would love to be able to wake up and go to work on time, Apple.

This has solved it for the time being, but you’re correct that this shouldn’t be happening. I’m still reporting as feedback that clearly something between iOS 11 and wiOs 4 isn’t jiving.

You, however, are a god. Thank you, Jason!

Also - so I’m not double posting - I just found something out: if you don’t enable Watch App > clock > “push alerts from iPhone” option, the haptic feedback in the alarms app starts to work again.

So much time wasted on unpairing and re-pairing and it was such a simple fix...

I just had this happen to me as well....I stopped getting any sounds out of the watch for normal notifications or alerts, although the haptic feedback continued to work. I had changed nothing in the watch that would have caused this, but I re-checked every setting and found no clear source of the issue. So I tried the solution someone recommended earlier in this thread, and unpaired the watch from the phone, rebooted both, and then paired the watch back to the phone. Sure enough, this fixed the problem and I again got sounds with the notifications and alerts.

HOWEVER....this solution had a drawback to it. Unpairing the phone from the watch removed the credit cards I had enabled for Apple Pay on the watch, and I had to re-add the cards again, and in my case anyway, re-verify with the card issuers for them to become active again. This is a pretty big hassle, and not one I want to go through again. So rather than having us end users jump through hoops like this when the sound/haptic feedback quits working, Apple needs to identify and permanently fix the source of this issue!

Yeah, this issue is awful. Like many of you have said, it worked fine right out of the box. Worked BEAUTIFULLY. And now, two days after getting the watch, I get sporadic email notifications and the SELDOM text notification. It seems to be worse with SMS texts than iMessage texts. Now, when I get a notification (rarely) no sound is happening at all. I have checked all my settings, to no avail.

APPLE, PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

Hello friends...i had this issue and I'd like to share what corrected my issue. I swiped up on my watch face and brought up the heart rate and battery life crap....went all the way left where at the top it says "connected". In there you'll see an airplane, a moon and a bell with a "no" sign. Make sure the bell with the "no" sign is not lit up.

Hope that helps.
