Mac Mail - Message Body Not Displayed

Been having a problem as of late with the Mac Mail app,

I cant seem to view message bodies and can only see the sender/subject/ect. but no message body.

When I load the message on my phone or icloud.com it e-mail displays fine.

I have tried rebuilding the mailbox twice already but it had no effect.

Any Help?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Okaaay!

Seems it was me all along, and nothing to do with the problem(s) noted in this thread. When I got the Gmail security alert today, I seem to have told Google to block access from 'less secure apps' - forgot I did that. In checking Google security settings now, I noted that switch was set and so I unset it to allow 'less secure apps' access. Mail now working fine. So Google classifies Apple Mail app as a 'less secure app'!! Which means I have to allow access to ALL 'less secure apps' in order to use Apple Mail app (which I mainly use to ensure I have an offline copy / backup of all my mail and am not dependent solely on Gmail.)

Off to have a word with Google re this. Apologies for distraction from the topic at hand, but others may wish to note this, re use of Gmail and Apple Mail.

I changed message font and the problem started the message body sometimes appeared and sometimes not .

User uploaded file

Immediately took a decision took back up of all data , created a new user account ( different name than previous) , added once again IMAP account mails started downloading from the server and it went absolutely fine .

Finally gone to the user and groups selected the old user name , clicked on minus sign a pop - up window appeared , checked the box for delete home folder , click on done .

I have this issue too - it re-occurs, is okay for awhile and then returns. I'm on Sierra 10.13.2. I tried the long complicated process of typing in library, etc but the files the user said would be there are not. I've tried quitting and re-starting. Displays okay on web and other apps. Just on my laptop/sierra it gives me problems. Sometimes when I cursor over the reply / forward keys and hit reply the original message will display. Sometimes not. I hope someone can come up with a solution to this that actually works. Very frustrating. I'm actually considering getting a new laptop just bc of this issue (laptop is 5 years old so it's probably about time but everything else is working well so I prefer not to).

I've been having the same problem - noticed it today. Was working fine yesterday.

(OS X 10.8.2 - no recent changes to the system!)

The only thing changed was my gmail password earlier today when Google advised me of a blocked sign-in attempt from an unknown device, which I later put down to the mail app, as I later noticed it was asking for the sign-in password- but I DID update Mail with new password.

Have also stopped Rapport in Trusteer - no improvement.

Maybe I'll try to re-build / re-index Mail, even though it may not have worked for some others....

That "new" view shown in your screenshot does not seem to have an obvious preview pane below it, or to its right. It is not at all obvious how to get it back from there. BUT:

"Classic" view has a much more obvious preview pane, but it sometimes gets squashed at the bottom of the viewer pane, with only a dot along the bottom edge indicating it could be hidden. It sometimes resists casual attempts to "pull it up" despite the appropriate upward-pointing arrow appearing.

>> The solution is, in Classic view, to grab the upward-pointing arrow, and pull it almost all the way to the top of the pane above. Nothing less will do.

I just wiped out my preview pane trying to set up a screenshot, then spent an hour trying to get it back. I found the above solution here:

El Capitan Mail Preview Pane issue

It turns out this fix also fixes the preview pane in the "new" view, adding a non-zero-sized preview pane to the right of the email-list-pane, which can then be RE-sized to your liking.

I've found that this alteration to Trusteer is just part of my problem. I'm using App Tamer on my MacBook Pro and I was having this problem with blank messages, and before I saw this Trusteer solution I'd traced the fault to App Tamer. I found that it was stopping Safari before it could load the message body, and if I stopped App Tamer from running all the message bodies did appear, and this was without changing Trusteer. When I did alter the latter to stop screen capturing the message bodies appeared for a time but I still had to stop App Tamer from running to ensure that they always appeared.

For those of you running App Tamer rather than stopping it running completely you can click the small box next to Safari in the window in App Tamer showing the running applications and then check the box to prevent App Tamer from stopping or slowing Safari when it's hidden.

Had the very same issue. I tried Forcing Quit, and nothing. Also rebooting, erasing cookies, reinstalling Mailboxes, deleting caches...and nothing. Contacted Apple Support and they indicated that they had several cases, and the problem is caused by a corruption of files while downloading the MacOS update.

Only real solution is Reinstalling latest MacOS by rebooting the system while pressing Command-R and following the instructions. Although very time consuming, it is the only solution so far.

Best of luck.

Had an email chat back and forth with IBM (Trusteer Rapport Support) they are aware of the problem and for me have seem to have fixed it. They said their developers are looking in to it as they have had multiple reports of the same issue. The last tip they had was set 'Block Screen Capturing' to never in security policies part of the Trusteer preferences.

Restarting the computer, quitting and restarting mail, turning WiFi off and back on all help occasionally, but not always. Sometimes, but not always, if you double click to open the message in a new window, the text body will display. Also, if you click "reply" for the message to open in a new window, the message will display although any links will not work. I finally fixed the problem by re-installing the operating system. Now, my mail works fine. Unfortunately, once I had reinstalled the operating system, I had to re-install my gnucash financial software, and now it will not open at all... :-(
