new entries revert to "new event"

Just within the last few days, Calendar has begun consistently misbehaving. I create a new event, assign it to a calendar, fill in information such as time and notes. I close the editing window, the new title displays (I'm using Month View) for just a second, and then it reverts to "New Event," and everything I've entered is lost. Oddly, when I enter all the information a second time, it always seems to stay.

As far as I know, I haven't made any changes to my OS (10.9.5) or to Calendar (7.0), neither via their settings nor any other way. FYI, I'm using iCloud to sync between the calendars on my MBPro and my iPhone (4S, running 7.1.2).

Hueyo, here. I certainly hope our friends at Apple are hard at work returning this situation to normal. In the meantime, I'd like to report what's working for me.

I do all my Calendar stuff on my MacBook Pro, so I don't know if this applies just as well to iOS devices. But what I've been doing is making a new event as per usual in every way EXCEPT assigning it to a calendar. Then, after closing the editing window, I right-click on the item and assign it to a calendar using the contextual menu. Far as I can tell, that's working just fine, without having to go thru any additional bother.

See, Apple? I'm doing MY part. Now how about you folks doing YOURS?

Hi All

Just to give you an update. I have been on the phone with Apple for the last 2 hours and strangely they were not aware of this issue. hmmmm??

We tried a few things including unsyncing all diaries and resyncing them which had no effect.

So far myself and my staff have been adding appointments by using the + sign in the top left corner and they seem to stay put and don't revert to New Event.

I shall let you know once i hear back from Apple Support.

Our offices have already lost 2 appointments that we know about which is causing major problems with my clients.

hi there

i am having the same problem here. ical seems to work fine on iphone 6 and ipad mini, but is screwing around on the imac, where i am still running mavricks. looking at earlier posts with the same issue, i tried omitting "&" in the entries or set the preferences to "1 minute" and not push, but neither helped.

the problem lies with apple. they have to solve it.

I've been having this same problem for a few days and finally decided to see if anyone else was! I end up copying the text for my event, so that I can paste it back into the New Event text that takes over. Major PIA. It must be from a software update that was installed not too long ago. I sure hope Apple figures this one out!

I have also been having this problem for the past week or so. The only thing that seems to help is to leave the calendar setting to the default option. If I choose another calendar, it automatically changes to "new event" after a few seconds. So frustrating to spend time entering a set of recurring meetings only to loose it over and over again, no matter how many times I try. At least now I can enter events - but having them all on the same calendar/color is difficult since I use different calendar colors for different people and types of events, and without that option my calendar is more difficult to manage.
