new entries revert to "new event"

Just within the last few days, Calendar has begun consistently misbehaving. I create a new event, assign it to a calendar, fill in information such as time and notes. I close the editing window, the new title displays (I'm using Month View) for just a second, and then it reverts to "New Event," and everything I've entered is lost. Oddly, when I enter all the information a second time, it always seems to stay.

As far as I know, I haven't made any changes to my OS (10.9.5) or to Calendar (7.0), neither via their settings nor any other way. FYI, I'm using iCloud to sync between the calendars on my MBPro and my iPhone (4S, running 7.1.2).

I'm still finding that the problem is behaving as before, AND I'm still finding that my easy workaround works:

create the new event,

fill in all the information, but WITHOUT changing to a different calendar,

close the editing window,

right-click on the event, and then choose the appropriate calendar from the contextual menu.

Not really any extra trouble at all.

I posted a similar thread last week. Has been happening for me for the last couple of weeks. Equally frustrating.

Apple: I do note that when I enter a new calendar entry the title bar changes to "Calendar - updating" for a moment and then the entry reverts to "new entry". I then have to go in and update the 'new entry' which then holds.

If this is an Apple forum, on the apple.com site, why is there no reply from anybody at Apple to acknowledge what is evidently an error in their coding that requires an URGENT update?

I spent over an hour with Apple tech support and it is a confirmed synching issue with iCloud for those of us using 10.9.x. It has been reported to the engineering team by the senior support tech I spoke with and there is no estimate as to when it will be resolved. The best workarounds appear to be a) wait to change your calendar designation from the default until after you save the event or b) upgrade to Yosemite.

so it appears that upgrading to Yosemite is inevitable and looming closer. I upgraded last Fall when Yosemite first came on the scene and it was an irreparable fiasco and as a result, the lesser of two evils was to buy a "new" computer - used which allowed me to go back to where I was initially. Yosemite wasn't ready for release and I was s victim. So I'm reluctant to upgrade so soon. I'm no expert but I was told that Yosemite re-partitians the hard drive and there's no going back. Would love to hear others' comments on thIs.
