My phone showing calls from another phone on my account.

I have an iPhone 5. There are four other phones on my account. Phone calls from one of the phones (iPhone 6) are showing on my call log. Today (for the first time) I even got a notification on my lock screen that I had 3 missed calls from someone actually calling the other phone. (It did not actually ring my phone or leave an entry in my call history this one time!)

I checked settings to make sure I had not selected this other phone number, but that particular phone number did not even appear on the list! That one phone is the only one leaving records of its calls in my call history. Since it is the only phone not listed under the iMessage setting "You can be reached by iMessage at...", I feel like this might be a possible connection to the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks!

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.2

Susanfog,

A new feature was added on the last update. Simply go to settings - general - handoff and suggestions - turn off. You must do this on all the devices linked to your id. Like you, I have 3 devices linked to the same appleid for Find My IPhone purposes and had no problem until this feature was added. thus will fix the issue unlike previous responses about linking ids.

I Share an account so that I know exactly what music my daughter is downloadin. I don't know how else to do this without taking her phone and looking through it all the time.

All this is beside the point. Everything was fine until recently. Something changed and it needs to be fixed. I have tried every reasonable suggestion found here. Nothing works. If I need seperate accounts, I'll go back to a device where I don't need iTunes. I don't think I should have to buy the same song or movie 3 times if I own three devices.

If sharing/monitoring music is your issue, you might try Family Sharing. You can have separate accounts, and up to 6 people can share music, iBooks and App Store, with one credit card set up to pay. You can set it up so your child has to get your approval each time before they can make any purchases. If that is your main issue, that might be the way to go.

I wish I could help you, but turning off Handoff on both phones worked for me, and the problem has not reoccured. I did not turn off FaceTime. You probably already checked this, but in settings>iMessage, make sure that each phone has only the phone numbers and emails checked for the user of that device. Sometimes when I update my phone, it automatically checks the phone numbers of every user on my Apple ID, so I have to uncheck them. Good luck....I assume apple support wasn't able to help.....maybe they don't like to admit big problems.

Hey look, another unhelpful high level poster harping on using different apple id's...I'm shocked!

That is not a valid answer Lawrence. It has nothing to do with 8.3...this started happening blindly on May 26. A similar thread has over 100 people having this issue with other users like you offering the same useless suggestion.....

How you guys don't get banned is beyond me. If there was a "this user is unhelpful" button, you'd get plenty of pushes.

I carry two iPhones, one for work and one for personal use. They are on the same iCloud account. As I mentioned in previous posts I have the same problem... Work calls showing on my personal phone and vise versa. I had no choice but to turn off iCloud on my work iPhone. That was the only way to stop it. Its a shame because that set up it worked great for years. Now, I might as well get a Galaxy work phone and have one of each since I can't have the two iPhones on the same account anymore.

Now if I loose my work iPhone, I cannot even use find my iPhone to find it because I must keep iCloud off. 😟

Need to turn off "Share my location from this phone" under iCloud, Advanced - this only effects find my friends and geotagging of messages - you can still see everything in Find my iPhone. You can also stay logged in to everything else with same iCloud ID (but need to have answer calls from near devices turned off for the these specific phones).

Exactly. Not to mention shared storage and iCloud photo library. My wife and I have a huge photo library and don't want to pay storage on two accounts to be able to replicate the library on both accounts (without talking about the difficulty to maintain this). If Apple really want every user to have their own account, they have to take care of such problem before, for example by allowing Photos to access two libraries (personal one and a family shared one).

Having separate accounts is not a problem for my kids. They are using their own accounts so that they can use the purchases I make, but also make their own ones. For the younger kid, I have to acknowledge each purchase so he can't buy anything out of control.

Agreed, my husband and I have the same issue, we have shared an account from the beginning because of our business and now each others call are populating on each of our phones. I have tried every single one of these suggestions to no avail. Is this a wifi issue or icloud issue or both? Why doesn't apple use the IMEI number to separate their devices in icloud if they can not seem to do it with the phone number. This does not seem that complicated to fix.

I have had the same issue for a couple weeks. I have a two iPhones use for two different businesses and the big issue was I didn't know which business missed a call. The only solution that worked was turning off icloud drive on both phones.

Other things that I tried:

- Turing off handoff on both phones

- Turing off handoff on one phone

- Creating separate accounts and setting up family share

- Making sure imessage and texting forwarding was not on.

- Turned off facetime

- logged into itunes store with separate accounts.

None of these worked alone or combined. It must have something to do with the icloud drive.
