"Recent calls" list won't clear

So, under iOS 8.3 on an iPhone 6plus, the "recent calls" list has becoming zombie-like; once cleared, it reappears. Often several times a day. And it keeps getting longer, with new calls added to the top. Any way to permanently clear this thing?

iPhone6. Happens to me too & more. Only after updating to iOS 8.4. I try clearing recent call log each day, it clears, but then reappears later in the day. It always shows calls only back to July 1st. Additionally, I also get recent calls listed that my wife's iPhone 6 also has made or received, so I get a combined list of my calls AND her calls! Her phone also misses tracking some of her recent calls. VERY annoying.

As with all of you, I have also encountered this problem. But I think I may be a little further along than some of you so I will share what I have been told by Apple. This also started for me about 6 months ago. I started getting calls showing up from October of 2014. What was really sad is the fact that many of the calls were calls to and from my now deceased mother. So now I have her "calling" me every few weeks now.

I contacted Apple Care to help with the problem. The first Apple representative had me back up my stuff on iTunes, then he deleted all of the software and installed Apple's software. The process took about 2 hours. Of course, the whole time I was saying that if we but the backup back on the iPhone, then the "virus" or "software glitch" could be on the backup and would return. "Nah, this will take care of it", he said. Three days later all of my recent calls from 2014 reappeared.

This time, I tried to trade in my still under warranty phone for a new one. Apple said no, we still have some things to try. This time I spoke to a very nice lady i will call CR, who is the Apple Care iOS Senior Adviser. This go round, we backed up my photos, contacts, and music to the iCloud. She wiped the phone clean, and destroyed (deleted) all of my past backups on iTunes. She added brand new Apple software, then downloaded the photos, etc from iCloud.

Two days later, my mother called again! (Same returning call log).

This is CR's latest reply on July 29:

"I will be submitting this to our engineering team now. Thank you for checking your devices. Again, I think this emerging issue could possibly be related to iCloud drive. For now, turn OFF iCloud drive on all your devices. Settings>iCloud>iCloud drive. Remember iCloud drive is not the same as iCloud, it is part of it. So you can leave iCloud ON, but just make sure you turn OFF iCloud Drive on all your devices (I have an iPad and iPod as well). Then once you turn iCloud DRIVE off on all the devices, delete your call history again and leave it turned off. If I am correct this issue will follow you with a new phone. I did look at your attachments and I do see that this is an emerging issue. I appreciate your cooperation while we get to the root of the problem"

Best Regards

CR

Note: The attachments that CR looked at is a PDF of all the replies that each of you have written. So Apple is DEFINITELY aware of the problem. If I hear any good news, I'll come back and post it here for all to read.
