GPU switch causing graphics issues on my new Retina MacBook Pro 15 (Mid 2015)

Every time I open or close Lightroom 6.1 (Lightroom uses the AMD R9 card) the computer will switch from the Iris Pro card to the AMD R9 card; and there will be some weird artifacts on the screen for some seconds, then they will disappear. The artifacts are like mouse arrow trailing, some black or odd colors on some areas in the form of small squares on the LCD, etc.

If I disable the Automatic Graphics Switching on System Preferences the problem will disappear immediately. Clearly it's related to the GPU switch process. I've tested the Laptop as well with Mac OS X 10.11 DP1 and DP2 El Capitan and the problem is still there. I've tried with other GPU intensive applications like Apple Photos and the same thing will happen.

Any idea how to fix it? is Apple aware of this situation?, I've read some articles from Oct-Nov 2014 but I would have thought by this time, 6 months later the issue has been fixed, especialy with a new laptop model (2015) and the latest Yosemite fixes.

Thanks

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I have the issue of the internal display staying blank if I'm booting up while connected to an external display as well. This isn't really that big of a problem for me, more of just a temporary nuisance, because all I have to do to fix it is shut the lid and open it back up and it's back to normal. The graphical jumping/ bouncing of text on a web page and random white flashings are more of a concern because I could see it getting worse. It hasn't yet, but I sort of fear it.

I don't know if you guys remember but a few years ago many macbook pro's were made with a design flaw that would eventually make them die. And this flaw were related to the discrete gpu. I had one of these and it died eventually. Apple is now fixing those macs at no cost, but took them a long time and a law-suit if I am not mistaken to eventually assume there was a design flaw and create the recall program. Of course if you have a major issue with your mac and it is still covered by the warranty it won't be a problem, but that wasn't what happened to most of people, including me.

And I gotta be sincere I do not expect to see glitches and weird behaviour (as the internal screen not booting) on a machine that expensive and supposedly that well designed. I also watched and read many reviews on this machine and not one soul was commenting about those glitches.

So if it is a software related issue, Apple or AMD needs to aknowledge it and let us know there will be a software or firmware fix soon. Untill there and assuming just a few people are experiencing those problems, I prefer to think it might be a hardware problem with a batch of those computers and that's why I returned mine. Now, If I experience the same problems when I get the new one, then I will need to decide if I should keep this machine or not.

It's a gamble, if it is a software problem its all good, but if it is not... then we need to hope Apple aknowledge the flaw and take some action. And again, I really thing this shoudn't be one of our preocupations when getting a machine of this calliber.

I work with macs for more then 15 years now and this last macbook of mine was the only situation I had in which my machine died. And I was lucky enough by the time it broke, Apple had already started the recall program. Let's see how it goes this time, as I've said I will let you know here how the machine behaves.

I need to add thou that in my case, the technician at apple store did noted the motherboard wasn't fully functional and was over heating.
So maybe my problem was way more serious that the ones you guys might be experiencing here. But if you are in doubt, won't hurt to take your machine to an apple store to be evaluated. These are brand new computers and very expensive ones, remember that.

Hi logicito, I do not have the machine with me anymore so I woudn't know about the cursor size or the internal display. My external monitor is an LG but I also tested using an imac as an external monitor and connecting directly with thunderbolt and got the same result.

Can you leave a link to this other forum you heard about this malfunctioning display?

tnx

Since I cannot replicate this issue I decided to just record my laptop, and when I noticed it I stopped recording and made screens shots. This is what mine looks like when it flashes to white and glitches or jumps. You can see the artifacts that come in above the menu bar. I've made a genius appointment for today, we'll see how that goes.
