GPU switch causing graphics issues on my new Retina MacBook Pro 15 (Mid 2015)

Every time I open or close Lightroom 6.1 (Lightroom uses the AMD R9 card) the computer will switch from the Iris Pro card to the AMD R9 card; and there will be some weird artifacts on the screen for some seconds, then they will disappear. The artifacts are like mouse arrow trailing, some black or odd colors on some areas in the form of small squares on the LCD, etc.

If I disable the Automatic Graphics Switching on System Preferences the problem will disappear immediately. Clearly it's related to the GPU switch process. I've tested the Laptop as well with Mac OS X 10.11 DP1 and DP2 El Capitan and the problem is still there. I've tried with other GPU intensive applications like Apple Photos and the same thing will happen.

Any idea how to fix it? is Apple aware of this situation?, I've read some articles from Oct-Nov 2014 but I would have thought by this time, 6 months later the issue has been fixed, especialy with a new laptop model (2015) and the latest Yosemite fixes.

Thanks

Hum I imagined that could happen. Was you that also had the problem with the computer booting with the internal display off when connected to an external monitor? Because this I think is fixed now with the update. At least something like that was listed in the release notes.

I really think the glitches are hardware related man, maybe an overheating of the gpu.. I don't know but just the fact a hand full of people only are seeing this, for me indicates it's not software. I would try to return it If I still could and if not, go to apple store and stay with the guy there untill it happens and show them so they can do something.

They replaced my last one - Apple Customer Service has always been particularly exceptional in my experiences. Also, my firm has a business account with Apple and I know they go out of their way to accommodate the business users who are choosing to use Apple products instead of PC for marketing and graphics.

Honestly, I don't know whether to take it back or not. It is annoying - But I am hoping it is a software issue. I did have a similar occurrence with the other machine too. I am thinking it is the AMD cards. I never had issues with the NVIDIA cards. The first computer I had was taking forever to render video in premiere pro. I had to change over to my 2012 macbook pro to render the video because it was 20 hours on the 2015 MBP and only 10 minutes on the 2012 MBP. Fortunately, the rendering is better with this new machine and after the recent Adobe CC release of 2015.

I am still having Dropbox eat up a significant amount of CPU when I have it open - And, yes, of course I have adjusted the bandwidth. I never had issues with dropbox or Adobe CC before this new MBP 2015. It's important to note I have maxed out specs: 1 TB SSD. 2.8 i7, ect. This is a $3200 laptop that performs beautifully when it works. But these other issues are definitely concerning to say the least. I really think it is related to the AMD cards.

On a side note: The SSD is outstanding. I have never experienced a faster SSD in all my life. I don't know how Apple did it. But the graphics issues need to be resolved STAT.

After a week waiting for the new logic board, i called the certified store yesterday, and they told that the piece is out of stock.

So i got mad, and called back apple, and they told that the next week they will send a courier to take my mac, and send in Holland, when they will receive my machine they will send me a new one in Italy....

And it's about a month that i have requested a new mac, and now i'm reading that other users have the same problem, with their replaced mac.

I'm loosing hope to get back to my work with a functioning mac....
