iOS 8.4 GPS Issue

I updated to iOS 8.4 and now my GPS isn't getting data quickly, when using Maps or Waze for directions it take so long to figure out where it's at it's pretty much useless. Anyone else having this issue?

I am experiencing the same problem

Device: iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB

Carrier: Verizon Wireless

Location: Central NJ

Updated: using iTunes 12.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.10.4

Apps tested: Waze, Google Maps, Maps

Wireless enabled: WiFi, Bluetooth, Cellular data, GPS

Troubleshooting attempted; all attempts failed:

  • Close and reopen app
  • Power iPhone off and on
  • Reset iPhone
  • Disable/Enable Location Services
  • Disable/Enable Location Services per app
  • Disable Find My iPhone and Disable/Enable Location Services
  • Backup to iCloud, Erase all Content and Settings, Restore from iCloud Backup

Selected Enable Location Services during Setup

Attempting to use GPS in Maps was now successful, but continued to fail in Google Maps and Waze. I left the building I was in and started driving. I launched Waze and it began working too. Now back in the building, not connected to WiFi, Waze indicates "No GPS" again. This is the worst iOS update since 8.0

iPhone 6+ running iOS 8.4

I am having the same issues as well. Here is a little but about what steps I took and where I am now. (still not working properly)

Pretty tech savvy user (IT guy for 15 years, so I typically can always troubleshoot my way through most things). Updated to 8.4, GPS kept saying I was ~1-2 miles off from where I was really at.

Steps taken:

1. Rebooted

2. The obvious location services turned off, then on.

3. Reset Network settings via Settings>General>Reset yada yada.

3. Reloaded firmware 8.4 (grabbed the ipsw file and did fresh install) tested as new setup - gps no go

4. Reloaded firmware 8.4 again, but this time I needed my stuff on my phone so I restored via iCloud. - gps still no go

5. Realized I couldn't do anything else but go see Apple. Went to store 5pm EST time, they performed same steps I did, then they connected to wifi and it found location, said it was a problem with Verizon and I needed new SIM card. Well I already knew this wasn't going to fix it, so I went to Verizon(because Apple was out of them..arg), grabbed new SIM card and drove right back to Apple after it didn't fix the issue.

6. Apple rep tried putting his own SIM in the phone, was able to replicate the issue.

7. Finally buckled and gave me new phone. It worked last night (for the maybe 10 mins that I had the app open)

8. Today comes around (7/1) and I am having the same issues again.

New phone did not fix it.

I also btw am using the native maps as well as Google, so it cannot be blamed on Google. It fails miserably with both of them..

Please anyone if you have any recommendations please post.

Same here. When I'm connected to my home Wifi I can choose a location in Apple Maps and ig finds a route almost immediately, and other apps such as Dark Sky (weather) can find my location. If I'm traveling around town using LTE, it doesn't work. Whne I try to map a location, Apple Maps just shows a "loading" message at the top of the screen, then it times out with the message, "Directions Not Available Route information is not available at this moment"

Definitely jacked. Was listening to Apple Music via Bluetooth in the car and Apple Maps refused to load a route. Tried restarting and shutting down Music and the phone but no joy. Google Maps worked which I hate due to their poor UI. I tried the shut off location, shut down phone, restart, reenable location and Maps works again so will try tomorrow when driving

I am on ATT, and have read in a different thread that it may be network issues with ATT. I took my phone by the Apple store and showed them the issue. Again, maps and location services didn't work on LTE. Then, I joinedThe Apple Store Wifi (Provided by ATT), and again Apple Maps, and location services for my weather app worked. They were puzzled. The Genius bar was full so I couldn't get an appointment for proper troubleshooting.

Hopefully it it network issues, and they are resolved soon.

I had this issue all day - updated early this AM - went on a short trip - and was unable to use GPS directions all day despite multiple reboots and reset etc.

The problem I had was not that GPS location wasn't working - at least in so far as showing my current location - but was unable to find any search location or provide directions.

Not sure if it was an AT&T LTE issue or not - but this evening - back on my home network it is working fine - will have to test it tomorrow when I leave the house - hopefully it was just an AT&T issue with the new versions of things and it is all resolved now.

I got lost in Greensboro all day with the GPS not working. ATT where no help whatsoever. We had three iphones a 4 a 6 and a 6+ all with the same problem

and ATT said it was our phone. talk about being hopping mad when you're lost and there is no one that give you any reason.

Finally Google maps worked so Google wins! Apple painfully did not get it right.with the update!
