iPad Air 2, 64 GB. After updating to iOS 8.4 screen rotation NOT consistently working. I have verified the screen lock setting in the control panel Is NOT set and I have done several hard resets (hold power button and home together). rotation works for awhile then stops working, another hard reset fixes it. This did NOT happen with iOS 8.3. Anyone else seeing the problem?

My home screen wasn't rotating after updating even though the rest of my iPad did rotate correctly. A reset did the trick for me.
I can confirm that my iPad Air 2 128GB is also not rotating after the 8.4 update. Very frustrating and disappointing that an error as basic as this can get through.
Yep, same here, no screen rotation after updating to iOS 8.4 on iPad Air 2, 64GB, wifi only.
The screen rotation does NOT work on both home screen and apps. Reset didn't help. Very annoying!!
Same issue here on iPad Air2 wifi+cell. Hard reset fixes the rotation for about 5 minutes then it stops working again.
I Have the iPad Air 2 64gb with the same rotation issue. Plus I have an incredible lag when waking, or returning to home screen. It lags so badly that my iPad 1 is faster....yes the original iPad is faster.
Same problem, ipad air 2 16 gb, wifi. Who has the problem please submit a bug report to apple https://bugreport.apple.com
I have the same screen orientation problem. IPad Air2/64/wifi, 8.4 installed via iTunes. Problem is intermittent, and can frequently be temporarily fixed by locking the screen with the screen lock botton, and re-opening the home screen. I left feedback with Apple Support as suggested in an earlier post, but was a little disappointed to discover that the choices for "Which version of iOS are you using" didn't even include 8.4 :-/

I'm having the same issues. Locking and unlocking gets it working again. They probably rushed this release to get the music app out there. Apple has been so buggy in the past year or so.

This bug seems like related to Touch ID on Air 2.
Turn the power on using the power button and then Touch ID to login, rotation seems working every time.
if you turn it on and login using home button/Touch ID at same time, rotation fail more often.
The setting is in the ControlScreen: swipe up from your home button.

does the bug appear on ipad air, and other ipads, or only with ipad air2?
I've only seen reports of it happening on the Ipad Air 2. Are you experiencing it ?
I can not confirm that it is related to TouchID: I am not using that and have the problem.
I am on an iPad Air 1st Gen and I'm having the issue as well. I somehow managed to correct the issue temporarily by pressing the power button once, clicking the home button, rotating the ipad without unlocking to the position that I want and then unlocking it. It's really annoying and I've also reported it to Apple but there's not an option for iOS 8.4 which is unfortunate. Let's hope that Apple does something about it to help us.
