Siri not working over LTE in iOS 8.4

I updated my 5s (AT&T) to iOS 8.4 this morning. When I tried to use Siri to voice dial (or anything else) the phone either didn't respond, responded with a list of things I can ask, or (finally), Siri saying "It seems I've lost my internet connection." But, I wasn't even trying to use the internet to make a call. Also, other internet apps work. Siri works fine over Wi-Fi, but that does not help when I'm driving.

Anyone else having this issue?

YES!! Everyone is having this issue!!!

Wrong. "Everyone" is not having this issue.

Try to be more polite. Everyone I know on AT&T can't make any iCloud connection over the cell network today. The iCloud status page even shows the issues. Essentially every service. I'm in Baltimore so this is country wide.

I was able to get a call from Apple support. They are aware of the issues. It's definitely a cell network problem that may indeed be related to the update. And it's a big one.

"Related to the update" is an interesting comment, as people who did not update have the same problem. Unless they mean that the new music features have overloaded AT&T's network, like the original iPhone did 8 years ago.

Allentown, PA area on AT&T. iPhone 6 with recent 8.4 update. Siri and dictation no longer connecting on data but functioning on wifi. Attempted to fix with reboot, moved ahead with network settings reset, hard reset, restore, and finally erase and start as new phone - all failed to fix. I used diagnostics through support and was told to bring phone in. I am glad that I found this thread before heading in this weekend. Since reading, I tested the phones on 8.3, and all are having the same issue.

One thing to note: our data usage spiked in the past two or three months. Our phones were using a considerable amount of data while connected to wifi. We made a complaint to AT&T last month. Unfortunately, there was a language barrier with support. I ended up disconnecting without a solution but received a refund for the added 3GB (which was used in three days!). Perhaps the current network problem is somehow related to an attempted fix. Check on your usage with AT&T. We have five iPhones on our account, and I only checked for usage during increments when I knew all five phones were on wifi. It was not uncommon for 80+mb chunks of data used per phone. We disabled all apps with data access and still had the issues...

All my iOS devices appear on my wifi network whether asleep/screen off or not. I have a Time Capsule and on Airport Utility I can see them listed as long as wifi was on when they went "dark". And even at my work place where my cellular connection is only available in certain areas all my services work over the wifi network that's throughout the building even when the devices are locked. I've also checked this by turning on Airplane Mode and then turning wifI back on and even when asleep my emails, messages and all other services function.

Thank you for your help!

I disabled all of the apps requesting cellular usage but still was recording huge chunks of data use. We compared with several months, and it appeared to coincide with the 8.3 update. We've been with AT&T since iPhone was released and never had a similar issue. We were using about 5-6GB per month until 8.3. As stated, we started eating about a GB every couple of days. This was way out of our pattern of use.

Yes I believe that as long as a wifi network is available all your data/connections will function on that. My data usage on my AT&T account is minimal since I have wifi available most places I go. Thats why I wasn't aware of this current issue until we were out of the house and in the car and none of the services were working.

Your router will list devices that have been connected, whether they are currently connected or not. As a simple test open a Terminal window on a computer and ping the IP address of an iPhone while it is on, the press the sleep button. About 30 seconds later the pings will time out. Wake the phone and a connection will re-establish.

This behavior has been well established and known for 8 years. A check of the literature will find many references to it.
