Music streaming slow for anyone else?

Since the first day, Apple Music streams (any song or station) have been incredibly slow. At first I assumed it was from high initial demand, but even now, most of the time the service is barely working for me. I'd estimate that 10% of the time things work perfectly, but 30-40% of the time songs can take 30 seconds to a minute to start playing, then they play choppy (as in not buffering enough). The other 50% of the time nothing even starts playing.

The obvious culprit might sound like my internet connection, but I can say that I don't have problems streaming online videos or Spotify – ever.

Restarting iTunes and my computer doesn't seem to improve the situation either.

Anyone else having issues?

Hi,

Same Problem Here! And now it is happening in all my devices, iPhone 6 and 4S, iPad 3, iMac and MacBook...

At first everything was OK... This issue has started for a couple of day ago.

My Internet is fast (100mb/s), and I verified that the TuneIn and Spotfy are working perfectly!

So definitely the problem is in the Apple Music!

I subscribed to the trial version, and straight away noticed some lag in the playback. Apart from the huge delay problems at the start of a song, I've also had the 'on-off' playback, which is a real problem, and as people have already said, really ***** the fun out of listening to music.

I've also had an even more annoying problem, which is where, once a track has stopped to buffer for a long time (1 minute plus), it just give up on that track and moves on to another one.

It's a real shame, as I'd had great hopes for Apple music, but I guess the lack of any kind of reply from Apple support speaks volumes.

Waiting for my first track to load tonight, I had time to google 'problems with Apple music playback', AND read the first three pages of this thread before the track started. When it started I'd forgotten I'd requested a track.

I've just set my free trial to not continue once it runs out. I'm now playing the same album on Spotify, and it's faultless.

Big shame.

I have noticed an intermittent problem, particularly late at night, precisely the time I like to listen to music, as I am an insomniac who listens to music to while away the night hours. Tonight, streaming is undoable, and I can only listen to music that I have previously downloaded to my local drive. However, my internet speed is fine, and I am able to watch movie trailers on the iTunes store. Apple, you have to deal with this problem, and now, or subscribers will disappear by the 100's of thousands. Just fix it.

PS: I also have just tried listening to samples in the iTunes store, and they play fine without buffering, so the issue seems to be that the Apple Music servers are somehow overloaded or malfunctioning. This is not what customers are paying for. This must be fixed now.

I will also add this. I will try to use Apple Music again tomorrow night. If the problem is persisting, which it has been doing quite frequently over the last week, then I am going to stop the automatic monthly payment, and re-install Spotify, and if I do that, I will be gone for at least 3 months. My experience with Apple Music is mostly bad, and completely unlike other positive experiences I have had with other Apple products. The Apple Music interface is great and reminds me of browsing through an old fashioned record store, but it must be backed up by properly functioning infrastructure. This is hurting Apple's reputation terribly, and it will be an awful setback for Apple Music if it is not fixed pronto. Customers will show very little more patience with this streaming problem.

I for one reported it to Apple as a Bug Report. They immediately closed the report and referred me to iTunes support as this is not a bug 😕

iTunes Support has no further suggestions than to check some settings in iTunes. Which clearly does not help as the problem is very random (in time and in affected Apple Music songs). The problem also occurs on iOS, and there aren't any relevant settings to change over there. Which brings me back to my conclusion this is a server side issue.

Yesterday I got a new 6S+ and hoped the iPhone Music streaming problems would be a thing of the past. I had assumed something was wrong with my 5S. Nope. My music as well as songs streamed from my Apple subscription were buffering and pausing. Usually this only happens over 4G. And like everyone else, no other streaming app has this problem. This morning I had a song skip, pause and buffer over my home wifi. I'm just posting to say my troubles aren't over.
