Music streaming slow for anyone else?

Since the first day, Apple Music streams (any song or station) have been incredibly slow. At first I assumed it was from high initial demand, but even now, most of the time the service is barely working for me. I'd estimate that 10% of the time things work perfectly, but 30-40% of the time songs can take 30 seconds to a minute to start playing, then they play choppy (as in not buffering enough). The other 50% of the time nothing even starts playing.

The obvious culprit might sound like my internet connection, but I can say that I don't have problems streaming online videos or Spotify – ever.

Restarting iTunes and my computer doesn't seem to improve the situation either.

Anyone else having issues?

Hi,

Same Problem Here! And now it is happening in all my devices, iPhone 6 and 4S, iPad 3, iMac and MacBook...

At first everything was OK... This issue has started for a couple of day ago.

My Internet is fast (100mb/s), and I verified that the TuneIn and Spotfy are working perfectly!

So definitely the problem is in the Apple Music!

I have reported having problems with the service. Several times.

They eventually told me to put my account in troubleshooting mode giving me instructions to do so.

Since the instructions were bad I wasn't able to do anything and now they don't answer anymore.

It seems the Apple in the "Apple Music" starts rotting and beginning to stink...

Same issue...

Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it's just doesn't.

So frustrating.

Weirdly enough, seems to work ok when on 4G but slow and choppy on wifi. (I have 38Mps download speed and all other services work just fine, so it's not my internet)

I'm on BT in the UK, I don't know if it might have something to do or not. But it's weird it works ok on 4G and not on wifi.

It's been like that for weeks, but now that I got an Apple TV it has become much more obvious, as before I used to download albums on my Mac and play them from iTunes, but now when trying to stream from Apple TV, it's driving me insane!

Sometimes the same track loads perfectly on my iPhone, but just doesn't stream on Apple TV. same wifi.

Let's hope it gets sorted soon.

This is exactly the problem I am having - no stuttering, but more often than not, after finishing a song, it refuses to play the next track, before finally giving up on that track and playing one further on down the playlist. I can't figure out whether it is an Airplay issue or just Apple Music being ridiculously poor, but given it is doing it when air playing to both my amp and Apple's new ATV4, my money is on Apple Music. I've had enough now and am canceling as Apple seem reluctant to even admit there is a problem. Can I get a refund on the month I've just paid for?

no , its not DNS issue... Google's DNS. OpenDNS, and my own ISP's DNS all result in the same slow down...

Its Apple's servers for sure..

Where are these CDN's i kept hearing about ? not likely that's gonna help much if Apple doesn't have the bandwidth to keep up with the ever increasing users to their services alone either.

i've seen other forums, here in Australia, blaming slowness between Singapore and Australia as the culprit. but i don't by that.... if it was, then it would also be affecting allot more stuff, than just Apple alone. since most, if not all, international traffic does go via Singapore in our case anyway.

I'll still say it is probably a mixture then of Apple and iTunes.

For example,,, i could play song after song on Apple music with zero buffering at all... then i get to one song which will start buffering at least 1/2 the song from the start.

then it'll be ok again for another 3 or 4. Add this to the fact songs even refuse to play and at time the "you are not connected to the internet." can can be temporary solved by either signing out sometimes and signing back in, attempting to play other song(s), and just hitting "play" again, it still comes down to iTunes.

However the fact that also happens as well on the new Apple TV 4 i've heard too, suggests its a mixture of both server side, plus client side.

Funnily enough, since I posted here on Friday, it's been working perfectly, with fast buffering and no playback cuts...

Let's hope I don't jinx it by posting this. 😉

My guess is that, like many of you have noted, is something to do with Apple servers. Having said that, the DNS theory seems possible as well. That would explain why it generally works fine on 4G but not on my wifi network.

If I run into the issue again, I'll try changing my DNS settings on one of my devices and see if makes any difference.

Apple Music must have a serious server problem when you read all this comments.

Here in Germany I have a 200 MBit/s line and even on bad days 100 MBit/s. But Apple Music is stuttering, stopping and sometimes not loading in iTunes the next song.

Annoying. 😟 You can count on one finger when Apple Music is playing smooth.

The problem was with OS X 10.11.1 and also now with 10.11.2 Beta and iTunes 12.3.1.23

It's not a bandwidth issue. Apple will not be overwhelmed by the number of users so their server capacity will not be the problem. If that were the case, more people would be complaining about this issue as it would make Apple Music unusable for the majority of people. I still think it's only some servers that are affected, causing a problem for a small group of users.

After being unusable for me for 5 days, it now has been working flawlessly for 3. On both OSX and iOS. No explanation on why or how. Guess I'm now connecting to a different server.

Apple Support mailed me that they were still investigating, 6 days after my first complaint.
