iOS 8.4 battery drain
I seem to be witnessing a drastic battery drain after the update to iOS 8.4. It's pretty bad, but I don't see anyone else talking about it.

They are launching Windows 10? ;-)
I have had the same issue with iOS 8.4. After a off/on cycle I found apps were consuming power due to "Background Activity". Here's the thing... my BA setting is OFF :-D
I am testing a fix - I'll post back if it works - here goes with the experiment:
Apple dropped the ball here... very poor quality control.
Okay... it appears Facebook was draining due to "background activity"... despite the background app refresh being OFF.
I have uninstalled Facebook and I'm monitoring further.
NOTE: "Usage and Standby" reflected the same time... X minutes usage and X minutes Standby despite sitting on my desk doing nothing.
Wow Gimmick .. that is WILD ..
I went to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage.
It says I only have 15 hours of life on the battery at 96% full ... as of 2 minutes ago.
I just checked and I am now down to 94 % ...
90 days ago battery power on standby was 38 hours as I recall.
Battery Doctor App who people tell me it is a crap App .. well Battery Doctor tells me that Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Mail, iBooks, Podcast are all using power.
Those Apps are in the system or required to have by Apple and can not be deleted as you no doubt are aware ... and I have never used them, and they are turned off in the Settings controls ... yet they are sucking power and in use.
I am guessing they are sending my location to Apple as ... location is the high power drain ... according to Battery Doctor in its usage report.
This is a brand new out of the Apple Store 5s/32 .. with just a few cycles on it and is only 90 days old while in very light service.
The Battery since manufacture is perhaps 2 or 3 years old .. I dunno but that can be figured out in the records.
I agree with you .. the iOS update has to be a bad one.
Or some how .. it is Manufacture as the battery no matter what the usage .. only lasts so long.
I hear it is 12 to 15 months by some reports.
My battery has been in storage for that time I am sure ... and if it is manufacture .. then I am hitting the danger zone so to speak.
Wonder if they heat up .. they gonna catch on fire.
Usually have to put them in a pile like in an Airplane and then with them together in a critical mass they ignite.
They say Volts hurt and Amps kill ... only takes 7/10 of an Amp to kill a person.
I like to keep a distance from electronic devices because of that prima facia irrefutable fact.
😕
How much total operating time do you get from full charge to automatic shutdown?

Wow! Where did you get your electricity education?
Operating time... probably six hours but its hard to tell. I got 36 hours of total standby time.
The battery usage stats said I had 17 hours of usage and 36 hours of standby. So the OS isn't doing its job to manage the battery.
I have restarted the phone and I'm monitoring the situation further. I'll keep reporting back.
Don't get caught up in the stats. The only thing that really matters is ACTUAL operating time.
I am not caught up in the stats... I went to sleep last night with 50% and woke up with 25%... That's when I checked the stats.
I've been running for 1.5 hours and only 1% drop.... removing FaceBook seems to be the cure - at least on iOS 8.4.0.
Again, how much total operating time do you get from full charge to auto shutdown?
Yes me to affecting severely about how the battery draining issue its paining to use iPhone always using with charger approx in stand by mode itself it's consumes 30% per hour how can we use with this condition please help me friends and how can I log a complaint with Apple about the issue how can I fix the issue ple help
Depending on if I have select locations services on, nothing set for "always", I now get about 5-6 hrs. That's using maps, texting, mainly.

Philly_Phan, I answered that earlier... about six hours of light usage and some short phone calls over 1.5 days.
Please note: Since I removed Facebook my phone has only burned 1% in 2 hours and is showing "usage at 6 minutes". That is what I expect when I'm not using the phone.
This is clearly a bug in FB and iOS contributing to background activity despite it being switched to OFF.
Pughazh please try to disable all background activity, remove Facebook, and reboot the phone.
I know it's not ideal... but Apple will figure it out based on evidence in this thread. In the mean time you need to find a temporary workaround... I believe I have. I will continue monitoring the situation.
FB has always been a battery hog. This is nothing new.
