iTunes Doesn't Recognize iPod (5th Gen Video 30Gig)

My iPod was working fine until I deleted songs that were all duplicated (using Anapod) and then discovered there weren't any songs left on my iPod.

I synced it back to iTunes and this messege popped out
"iTunes cannot read the contents of your iPod..etc etc" The gist of the message was that iTunes couldn't read my iPod and after I clicked the OK tab, the page sort of freezes and I can't click restore, so, its not possible for me to restore my iPod!

I've tried everything! Re-installing iTunes; disconnecting USB ports; resetting iPod nothing works.

AND

I have 15 video podcasts. in the Settings area, it says i have 15 but when I go to the menu section in the podcasts, i have 30! all duplicated!

so..

1. how do I restore my iPod
2. how do i get rid of the duplicates?

Hence, the problem lies with
itunes. Even though Itunes tells you that there's a
problem with the ipod.

I completely agree with your analysis, Toronto, it is ITUNES!! I have a toshiba laptop and run XP and have ALWAYS had a problem getting itunes to recognize my ipod. It will recognize it for awhile but then something will crash or hang and the next time I plug in my ipod itunes will stop recognizing it again. I've restored my ipod too many times to count over the last year, but when reloading I get the same message of "Writing to Ipod failed" (usually if I say "ok" and let it sit, the ipod will eventually undock from itunes, i restart my computer and plug in the ipod agian and I can continue downloading for awhile until I get the message again.)
Ultimately I can't get a consistent connection and it is infuriating. I have reloaded iTunes 5.0 (I do think iTunes 7 is way to advanced for my 3G ipod), but with the most recent restore of my pod, nothing seems to make iTune recognize it.

I have tried:
deleting temp file
mapping a network drive specifically for ipod
using an older version of Itunes and Ipod updater
and everything at this link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716

I haven't touched my iPod Nano (it's the older one that isn't colored) for a while and decided to update my playlists today. I tried plugging it in the same USB port I always use (on the front of my pc) and iTunes never picks it up. When I plug it in I hear the little sound and I can see that it's plugged in under my computer, but iTunes has nothing! I can't update any of my songs... all it does is recharge. I've tried disk-mode and even uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and it didn't do squat, any ideas?

I have a similar problem but not exactly. I have an iPod Mini and it's been working fine but today I plugged it into the computer and the iPod recognizes it's plugged in and it says "Do Not Disconnect" but iTunes and my computer does not recognize that my iPod is plugged in. Does anyone know what's wrong without me losing all of my music?

I just read through this thread and feel a little relieved that I'm not the only one who has nearly thrown her computer across the room in frustration. I tried everything to get iTUNES to recognize my nano. I'm not sure when it stopped working? Anyway, this is my question:
Does ANYONE from APPLE READ these threads and attempt to answer any questions? Does anyone know if there is an email for tech support?
Next attempt will be to revert to an old version of itunes...

I reset my iPod and plugged it into a different computer and it recognized it and everythings back to normal. So try to reset your iPod and hope it works!
