downloaded 8.4 on 5th gen touch and have missing music.

I downloaded 8.4 on my Ipod 5th gen. touch and now many of my artists/songs are missing from my music collection. I have purchased all of my music from Itunes, (over 4,000) songs, so I am very worried considering the amount of money I have invested so far. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions or similar issues?
