iTunes with Windows 10 install error

I'm trying to install iTunes 12.2.1 64bit on a new Windows 10 installation and I'm getting the following error:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publickKeyToken="1fc8 b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80073715

Any ideas?

That looks wrong - the 64-bit installer should be called iTunes6464setup.exe. I would try downloading again from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ or using this direct link:

iTunes 12.3.1.23 for Windows 7 or later, 64-bit: iTunes6464Setup.exe

If you still get errors it may be worth trying the "for older video cards" version, which is actually the 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer and may be more stable on some systems:

iTunes 12.3.1.23 for Windows 7 or later, 64-bit "for older video cards": itunes64setup.exe

I have tried for many hours with Microsoft support to install itunes64 on my windows 10 64 bit desktop.

Even if you manage to install it by forcing unsupported code (old installs) - you will find it is unstable.

Absolutely none of the solutions work correctly. I do not know who is more at fault, Microsoft or Apple - but the culprit software is the msi for apple application support - which is a huge list of miscellaneous installations.

In the meantime I intend to use Groove from Microsoft, which will read all of an itunes installation, and there is an app for your iphone (ipad) that will play them. There are a number of ways to download music from sources other than apple - as they really do not have a lock on that business.
