Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

Hi all,

I have had this horribly caught amidst the problems I was facing with Windows 8.1 and then I installed Office 2016 and was cruising towards setting up Outlook and some other very essentials for me like Visio and Project. As I needed my iPhone to be simultaneously working on synchronisation as the newer version of Office I was moving quickly iCloud sync app (the recent latest version) has also been installed and immediately after then I realised the grave mistake I did. Any of the Office app would not load and seems some repair would try to solve and crash soon. My emails on Outlook have entirely messed up my situation and I lost good amount of time, money, clients relations and peace of mind. I worked out the best and researched as most of the systems around are predominantly Windows based. Unfortunately I have to do this research and felt this will help you all too.

Office 2016 is backward compatible. Make sure to skip the entire iCloud family of 6.X.X.X version updates while tracking the older versions and see for a stable version.

Yes, Microsoft acknowledge Apple released this version but I don't feel its worth wasting time as neither would compensate any ones loss.

iCloud for Windows 5.1 supports Outlook 2016 -

So, try downloading version before 6.0 as I could find some on filehorse:

http://www.filehorse.com/download-icloud-control-panel/old-versions/

I used the iCloud version 5.2.1.69 and it worked. Office 2016 has been loading with older versions of iCloud (5.2.1.69) and I currently have no issues. I will not be able to rule out that this is sure but I have no options but to use Windows operating systems and so as Office along with the iPhone. So, please do not take my word but backup for your safety. and try this.

Good luck.

Regards

Thanks for the info Uwe.

I guess all we (that is all of us having the problem) can do is keep sending feedback direct to Apple in the hope that the more complaints to them there are, the higher the priority they may consider this and do something about it.

see this thread - If you find that iCloud for Windows and Outlook 2016 are not working together - see here:

Thanks again Uwe.

follow this link to get your calendar into Outlook.. I just did it. It took all of two minutes and my calendar was in Outlook. It's a temporary fix but it works.

iCloud: Share a calendar with others

I've called Apple and screamed at several people (literally) to get to someone who knew how to work around the issue. He also assured me that he's received several of these calls and Apple is working on the issue. I told him that Apple needs to start reading these posts because of the thousands of people who are affected and that we all feel that Apple is ignoring us. I'm hoping they come up with a fix soon, but in the meantime this workaround saves us all from the rollback/update/restore headaches we've all been experiencing.

Hi:

Basically, that's all I want if for - Outlook to ICloud and that's it. I tried that Open Protocol Connector and I couldn't get it to work. It added the new calendar to Outlook but never updated ICloud calendar. I access my ICloud calendar through www.icloud.com. I didn't get any buttons in outlook that said refresh from server or update folders. When looking at the accounts in the trust center, the open protocol was there. I don't know why it didn't work.

Today, I spoke with a Sr Adviser who after looking at the problem and hearing me explain this as best I can and the outcry of thousands of users, and those to come, .... notified me that she was referring this to the engineers and would stay with me until this is resolved. I feel she has heard me. I sent her a link to read this discussion and the similar situation others are in. It was important to me to make sure this was not seen as isolated and that kicking it to Microsoft like a volleyball would help no one. I will share what I get out of this.

I started this path by visiting my Apple store and seeking an appointment at the Genius Bar. I was overhead explaining the problem by a staffer who said she would like to get someone in their phone support to call me and see what they could do or instruct the Genius bard on before my appointment (Thursday). So today, Tuesday I spoke with the adviser and I am now in watch for some responses or questions back to me once the next level responses to us. In an earlier post I said we would need to 'escalate' this with support and not stop with the casual 'it's Microsoft' or something that does not move us to a solution. Updated coming ...

deninefromtoronto,

Please give us some details or instruction on how you applied 'sharing calendars with others'. Also what did you do, if anything, about your address book / contacts? I have read the sharing information. I don't want to add another leyer to the mess I have with my calendars already from attempts to fix this unless it really works. Another question: How many calendars will I need to have open to make this work comes to mind?

I was following this thread to see the final fix for this issue, for I am affected by this too. Atop of this discussion, it says that the thread is "Branched to another discussion". Upon going there, I am getting "Unauthorized".

Can someone update us all on this issue? What is the latest from Apple on when the issue may be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

see my post from Nov 3rd, 2015. A Sr Advisor has escalated the problem to the engineers responsible for iCloud along other things. She promises to keep me posted and so far I feel she is going to hang in here with me until this is resolved. The magnitude of this problem may have just finally been understood by someone able to influence and get some action. I will post here on the progress, if any.

This morning I went to Apple Support and started a chat with one of their reps. As usual, they were very nice, but, unfortunately, not very helpful this time. They recommended going back to Outlook 2013. Sadly, I'm even having difficulties getting the 2013 version of Outlook to sync. For those that have an Office 365, there is a clunky solution that I am using: the Outlook app for iOS. Of course you then have two sets of contacts, calendars, etc., but for the time being it works. While I love my iPhone (I've had one since they were introduced), Android (or, god forbid, Windows phone) is looking better and better. Even if Apple fixes this soon, I'll be taking the others into serious consideration for my next phone.
