Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

So ... we find ourselves with the issue reported Aug 27th ... it is now November ... there are over 180 postings and north of 23K views just on this thread alone ... hmmm ... you would think getting iCloud for Windows to work with Office 365 / Outlook 2016 might, just might get the attention of Apple. I see brave souls on this thread wading into the telephone support labyrinth pleading the case. Just looking at the numbers of threads on this topic and views, you could arguably state that this is a fraction of the users experiencing problems. Often times people just give up and choose different technologies.

The only "solution" to date is to roll back to Outlook 2013 which for a time worked, until v5 of iCloud was released.

I have found Apple Support Communities to be a fantastic source of troubleshooting and finding answers. Seldom if ever have I seen such a major, visible issue, impacting tens if not hundreds of thousands of users go unaddressed by the company so many of us have admired for years. Apple, I sincerely am rooting for you and hope this gets resolved quickly. The longer the delay, the higher the likelihood of losing future customers for phones, tablets, and laptops which would be a shame. Please, while there is still time, deliver a robust fix for inter-operability with Outlook 2016 and iCloud for mail, calendar and contacts.

I'll add my voice to the crowd to say that I've wasted a lot of time on this too. In trying to uninstall iCloud for Windows and (unsuccessfully) reinstalling it, I've managed to lose all my Outlook 2016 contacts from my PC. Not happy. Don't these updates get tested for compatibility with the more common bits of software before they get released? Not happy. Any word from Apple to say that at least they acknowledge the problem and are working on it?

So my desktop (PC) with Windows10 and now MS Office 2016 (365)
has Outlook 2016 and iCloud v5.0 works Great on my Desktop, However (you know
there is always a Butt) On updating my wife’s laptop, she has Windows10 to MS
Office 365 (2016) Outlook 2016, iCloud v5.0 it is not working on Outlook 2016.
We also share Calendars and I see everything put on the iCloud calendar from my
Outlook 2016.

I have looked High and Low on my desktop with Outlook
add-ins to the “Windows Registry” to see why it works on my desktop and not my
wife’s laptop and I just can’t find anything. I don’t know if it is Microsoft
or Apple… Like everyone else I hope there will be a fix soon very soon (for my
wife is going to kill me LOL)

Is it possible to setup the iCloud mail/account manually on Outlook. I have 365 on Windows 10 (which I assume is just the same as Office 2016). I'd rather not install Apple's iCloud Control Panel. I'd just prefer to setup iCloud using the traditional old school method adding the account in just like I did with my ISP email account. I never use the iCloud email address but the main reason is I'd like my calendar entries on my phone mirroring within outlook when I open Outlook up/sync it. What are the settings or is this impossible without iCLoud control panel?

Thanks,

Wayne

I would like to add my voice as well. I have contacted an writer on Cnet to see if they would pick up the issue. Maybe somebody else cares more that Apple. I spent over an hour on tech support and all they could say was that Apple does not even look at these forums. Billions in profits and they can't even look at their own forums. I find it hard to believe. I find it harder to believe of that they don't care about all the outlook users.

All their tech support was able to do was eliminate all my contacts in Outlook so they are only on my phone and not on my PC. Thanks Apple tech support for nothing.

This will really influence my buying decision next time. Suggest everyone call tech support so at least they will recognize the problem

****** off IPhone user.

Who ever told you they don't look in these forums is wrong. If you are a developer and accidentally post something from beta into these forums, you would be amazed at how fast they pull it an warn you about it. The one time it happened to me, (due to too many windows being up) it was gone and I had an email in less than 2 minutes.

They do read these forums, they just don't post in them or acknowledge anything in them.

It was a tier 2 tech support person. I told her I did not believe her that Apple did not follow the forums. I told her they should if they done and said 'Oh that would be a good idea" Tells of the quality of some of the tech support. She knew nothing about icloud or office but was supporting it by following a computer prompt.

I just asked the telephone support about an estimated ball park figure-kind of time of resolution.

• They told me they don't know.

Then I asked them if they would inform me when the solution is found.

• They told me no.

Then I asked for a link to a specific internet page where they would announce when a solution is found.

• They told me to keep an eye on the Apple forum. "Someone else might have the same problem and post the solution when it comes.

Apparently they want me to actively go into a forum with short intervals instead of creating a mailing list.

In short: I am outraged. I am a customer and expect the company to show a little interest in helping me as a customer. This is not acceptable in my book.
