Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

Hi all,

I have had this horribly caught amidst the problems I was facing with Windows 8.1 and then I installed Office 2016 and was cruising towards setting up Outlook and some other very essentials for me like Visio and Project. As I needed my iPhone to be simultaneously working on synchronisation as the newer version of Office I was moving quickly iCloud sync app (the recent latest version) has also been installed and immediately after then I realised the grave mistake I did. Any of the Office app would not load and seems some repair would try to solve and crash soon. My emails on Outlook have entirely messed up my situation and I lost good amount of time, money, clients relations and peace of mind. I worked out the best and researched as most of the systems around are predominantly Windows based. Unfortunately I have to do this research and felt this will help you all too.

Office 2016 is backward compatible. Make sure to skip the entire iCloud family of 6.X.X.X version updates while tracking the older versions and see for a stable version.

Yes, Microsoft acknowledge Apple released this version but I don't feel its worth wasting time as neither would compensate any ones loss.

iCloud for Windows 5.1 supports Outlook 2016 -

So, try downloading version before 6.0 as I could find some on filehorse:

http://www.filehorse.com/download-icloud-control-panel/old-versions/

I used the iCloud version 5.2.1.69 and it worked. Office 2016 has been loading with older versions of iCloud (5.2.1.69) and I currently have no issues. I will not be able to rule out that this is sure but I have no options but to use Windows operating systems and so as Office along with the iPhone. So, please do not take my word but backup for your safety. and try this.

Good luck.

Regards

To keep the discussion alive and to "entertain" everyone ab bit:

In all of my pain, I decided to change my mailbox plan towards a so called business mailbox, hosted on OpenXChange for 4,95€ per month, hoping to use OpenXChange to become a substitute of iCloud. Actually OpenXChange can handle Calendar, Contact and Tasksync with Outlook and is being widely used at Email-Providers, at least in Germany.

Guess what, that Outlook Connector is not working with Outlook 2016:-( A subsequent inquiry to my Provider 1&1 (who nowadays offer fast and excellent support) revealed, that "OpenXchange is hard working on Outlook 2016 compatibility, but Outlook 2016 being pretty new"...

So also Microsoft may/must have changed something deeper, but one should expect from Apple that 6 month should be enough to investigate and deliver a solution.

I am now thinking of upgrading my Email even further to hosted MS Exchange. This should be compatible to Outlook by all means, shouldn't it? ;-)

I'm having this problem too; ever since the iCoud 5.0 update was pushed out.

The ironic thing for me is, I could care less about Outlook's ability to sync with iCloud. I am using it to mirror my photos to a folder on my drive, and that's the only service I have checked in iCloud control panel.

There's no WAY I would consider dropping back to Office 2013 or earlier just to allow iCloud 5.0 to install, that is lunacy. I'll uninstall iCloud completely before I do that. I hope a solution comes along soon.

Since iCloud works with Outlook 2013 then presumably Microsoft must have changed something in Outlook 2016, perhaps putting the 'blame' with them. On the other hand, a few of us have got iCloud v4 to work with Outlook 2016/Windows 10, at least in certain configurations, suggesting that whatever tweak is required to iCloud must be pretty minor. Either way, it cannot require much effort to fix this issue, making it all the more frustrating that it is taking so long, and fuelling suspicion that there is another agenda here, i.e. there is no intention to fix it, for whatever reason (presumably commercial).

The main thing is Microsoft acknowledged the problem by putting Office 2013 back up. Apple on the other hand has refused to even acknowledge it. Also Office 2016 came out as planned with a long open public beta before Apple came out with iCloud 5 with no public beta. At that point, it was up to Apple to make sure they worked together. MS gave them a long time with the program to do this, while MS had no software from Apples iCloud 5 to develope around.
