Is iCloud compatible with Outlook 2016?

I've installed Windows 10 and Office 2016. I also installed iCloud and every time I try to access it and synch with my Outlook 2016, a window pops up and says top Repair iCloud installation, then Restart. I've done this twice but still no go.

Is Outlook 2016 too new??? Or is it Windows 10???

This entire experience has been strange. I am writing this on a Dell Latitude running Windows 10, Office 2016 and iCloud. It's been syncing perfectly for months and hasn't stopped one time. On the other hand, I have a hand-built desktop, with top of the line hardware running identical software and it hasn't worked with Office 2016 until iCloud 5.1. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason.

Good Luck

I'm not familiar with Click to Run, but after Googling it I think it is a genuinely different product (at least behind the scenes) so that may be your problem. However, I don't think it's true that Office 365 is necessarily Click to Run. I am using Office 365 (on a business subscription) and I simply downloaded and installed the whole Office suite, which as far as I can see is not Click to Run and is identical to a one-off purchase of Office 2016.

From the Microsoft Office support pages:

"Click-to-Run is the technology used to install Office 365 subscription and most other Office 2013 and Office 2016 products. Windows Installer technology (MSI) is used to install the volume license editions of Office, like Microsoft Office Professional Plus and Microsoft Office Standard."

Office 365 subscriptions use Click-to-Run to install, but whether they are classed as Click-to-Run once they are installed, I have no idea...

Does anyone know anything about Click-to-Run?

Here's some more from a different link on the microsoft technet pages:

"Click-to-Run uses virtualization technology to run an Office product in a self-contained, virtual environment on the local computer. This isolated environment provides a separate location for the Office product files and settings to be stored so that they don’t change other applications that are already installed on the computer."

"Even though the Office product runs in a self-contained environment, the Office product can interact with the other applications that are installed on the computer. Macros, in-document automation, and cross-Office product interoperability will work. Click-to-Run is also designed to allow locally-installed add-ins and dependent applications to work with it. However, there is the possibility that some add-ins or other integration points with Office might behave differently or might not work when you are using Click-to-Run."

Seems like anyone who has got this working is just very lucky?

I also have Windows 10 and office 365 with outlook 2016.

I have done the installation of "icloud for windows 5.1" on 3 PC's.

On two PC's; afther the installation, i have to do a full repair of the Office 365. Then it was working.

On a third PC, i have to uninstall "icloud for windows 5.1" and afther then reinstalling it(icloud for windows 5.1), everything was working fine.

Also, I have the explanation that in my case it doesn't work. (Windows 10, Office 365 Outlook 2016 with Click and Run).

And It works with Windows 10, Office 365 2013, Outlook 2013.

I am waiting for a new version of icloud 5.2 Windows. May be not in 5 or more months !!!!
