iOS9 + Windows Vista

Hi everyone!

So, I still have the good, old Windows Vista and I can't update my iTunes anymore because of my too old software. So what can I do when I just updated all my devices to iOS9 but they are no more compatible with my iTunes anymore because iOS9 REQUIERS the newest iTunes 12.2?😕

I'm not gonna buy new software because someone forgot about people who doesn't change their

Windows-software every year.😠

Greetings,

I just ran into this same issue....my iPhone updated to iOS 9, and immediately caused iTunes to popup a window saying the phone can't be accessed because it requires iTunes 12.2.2 or later....yet that version won't install on my Windows Vista PC?? So now my phone is prevented from connecting to iTunes....Apple, you need to fix this!

Yes, there was a confusion with iTunes latest update version, its access and download link all together!

Not sure why the download was made available to the public so late, but this did not help as the previous versions would normally not work well with IOS9 and tits update on the phones.

Not sure for Windows, but the latest iTunes Mac version is now available from yesterday sometime on the App Store as an update; hopefully Windows PC have now the same as well?

I understand how you feel about Apple; however if you look at it overall, it is still pretty good if compared to Microsoft, with less much less issues.

Having said that....I remember the Apple days when almost nothing of a sort would happen; this is many years ago when I switch from Windows to Apple....and working with Apple then was a true blessing.

I guess Apple is trying so hard to do more and more; they are in a way stuck in that "Rat race" where it is becoming more and more difficult to remain "faultless", as the public wants more and more, and every devices that comes out must also do more and more!

With increased functionalities and performances....comes increased bugs and troubles at times; a bit like a formula one to tweak over and over! Maybe, it is also our fault, as we keep on wanting and demanding more, and Apple (like others), just cannot be the one they used to be in the good old days.

Happy computing to you; nonetheless 🙂

Update:

I downloaded iTunes using turingtest2's link and it failed to install the first time. I just tried again and it completed successfully. My iPhone was recognized and overnight it was restoring, but when I looked at it this morning it failed due to lack of space on my laptop. So, i cleaned some stuff out and now it has been restoring for 3 hours.. I'm very confident this will work. Thanks for all the help guys! Community +1 🙂

I hate to rain on this happy parade, but closing iTunes 12.1.3 on Vista still results in either an APPCRASH or BEX problem report. BEX (buffer overflow) problems are the ones that trigger Data Execution Prevention notifications (see iTunes 12 incompatible with Windows Vista Data Execution Prevention). Thus far, my problem reports are majority APPCRASH. Still, I appreciate that Apple has acknowledged the existence of Vista users.

Had same problem here: after installing iOS 9 on my wife's 5s, it would not connect to Windows Vista 32 bit version of iTunes stating a newer version of iTunes was needed, which of course was only for 64 bit machines. I decided to let it rest - looking for exactly this post that provided the answer. As my installation of iTunes 12.1.2.... did not state a newer version was available, I simply googled "iTunes 12.1.3 for Vista" and found the official Apple site containing the upgrade. A few short minutes of painless update watching later - everything connects, including my iPhone 6, the iPhone 5s, an iPad mini, and an iPad. Thank you for this perfect experience and the solution to what might have been a very frustrating problem.

I just successfully installed iTunes version 12.1.3.6 for Windows Vista (32 bit) found on an Apple site. the problematic 12.1.2 version of iTunes did not state that a newer version of the program was available, so I Googled for "iTunes 12.1.3 for Vista" instead and found the available download on an offil Apple site. I downloaded it, clicked it, and watched it install (painlessly). All well now -- problem solved!

Hi,

I have installed the new iTunes for Vista, because I had a similar problem. My iPhone 5S (after updating to iOS 9) showed up in iTunes, but when I clicked the small iPhone-icon in the top left part of iTunes, Tunes freezes. Unfortunately, updating iTunes does not change this. I seperately installed the mobile drivers, too. No success.

Any ideas?

I just ordered a new iPhone 6S and I am very afraid that I cannot get it to work or get the backup from my 5S to my new 6S, when it arrives.
