"Remove from Recents" missing from iOS 9 mail

H there,

If I enter an email address which is not in my address book into mail and wish once used to delete it , in iOS 8 i clicked the ℹ icon to the right of the list of emails which popped up as the partly typed the email address. Then selected "Remove from Recents' which was at the bottom of the list in red.

In iOS 9 its gone !

Anyone any ideas please how I now delete unwanted email addresses once used which are not saved to the address book.

A big thanks to anyone who posts the answer.

HI coveman,

I think we may have already discussed your suggestion which works well, but if you only have access to an iPhone or iPad it's hard work solving this issue..why take an effective functions away It's beyond me!

Yes, I agree with you. And "my" solution, as I mentioned, was Spartanet's solution on this thread. But it did work for me. It is ugly and and unfriendly but it did work. Apple does need to restore the feature that they took away. My guess is someone made a mistake on that form on the devices, after you press ℹ. I have also noticed that the form that's displayed on the iPad does not surface correctly, it truncates the options prematurely and you need to scroll through a small window.

I Only have a iPad and iPod so I can't delete them.

hey

i tried doing it on mac... while using Mail and typing the address in the "To" box.. none of my email address appears!

please help how can i do it on mac

not fixed on 9.01 which was a chance to sneek it in.

i think it only works if your using you iCloud account and data is synced. once deleted on your Mac you need to restart mail on your device for it to take affect.

I've tried syncing my iPhone to iTunes and deleting the e-mails from my "previous recipients" list and then resending, no luck. tried rebooting also, disappointing apple have overlooked this as it's becoming very frustrating

I've not had any success removing any recent contacts either. I left a comment at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ that I'd like the feature added back in. Why Apple would remove this is beyond me.

did you try logging into your icloud from a PC? I did that and was able to remove and delete all unwanted email addresses.

I logged into my icloud from a pc and was able to remove my unwanted contacts that way

That's great if your have access to a PC and your icloud account, which is way to much to ask for a function which was (until Apple gave ios9 to school leaves to program) one click away.

try logging into your icloud from a pc and you can delete email address from there. I did this and it worked.

Maybe Apple is trying to integrate the iPad with Mac.

When Watch came out I was taken back a bit that you needed to pair it with a iPhone for 100% functionality.

I Only I have a iPad and dont see myself ever buying a Mac.

I agree, but at least it is a temporary way to get rid of those email addresses. Apple will add it back in an update, but that will take a long time.

and what a sad day that will be..El Capitan is already looking to much like iOS for comfort..with the photos app dumbed down to match the iPhone .

Why would they add the feature back having just deleted it?
