"Remove from Recents" missing from iOS 9 mail

H there,

If I enter an email address which is not in my address book into mail and wish once used to delete it , in iOS 8 i clicked the ℹ icon to the right of the list of emails which popped up as the partly typed the email address. Then selected "Remove from Recents' which was at the bottom of the list in red.

In iOS 9 its gone !

Anyone any ideas please how I now delete unwanted email addresses once used which are not saved to the address book.

A big thanks to anyone who posts the answer.

Hi all,

I encountered the same issue as previously described by the original poster.

I have a Yahoo email account on my iphone with iOS 9.

I have found another workaround, which is satisfying for my needs:

1) Go to Contacts

2) All your recent contacts appear. Click on "Groups".

3) My settings displayed 2 groups "All iCloud" and "Yahoo". I unchecked Yahoo.

4) Click on done. Only my true contacts/friends appear in the Contacts.

Hope this helps.

This is the first time I have had to deal with this problem but there is a workaround. Workarounds do reputable companies no favours as does ignoring the problem, particularly since the solution was previously in place.

This is the workaround...

Use the blue "i"

Then

Add to existing contact

Edit the existing contact and remove

Not elegant nor to the normal high standard but it did work

"Remove from Recents" missing from iOS 9 mail

HI Jimmy,

I'm sure I've what you suggested, blue ℹ added contact, then edit delete, restarted mail and contact apps.

But still the email address is there when I start typing !

In reply I think the important detail is: Add to existing contact

For me that seemed to have the effect of removing it then the deletion from the "existing contact" you have just added it to is just good housekeeping.

I hope this helps.

PS I got an email but still no sign of your post on the forum.

HI Jimmy,

This is what I have just tried which i think your suggesting but I can't get it to work.

I Have set up two test emails, neither in my contacts. The first one I created as a new contact, quit app , then I merged the second one to it! quit app. I then deleted the email details from the test contact. Quit app.deleted second email address from the test contact. but emails addresses remain in mail, deleted test contact, still in mail.

thanks again, but I'll stick with deleting them using my iPhone 4 And iOS 7, I can get that to work. 🙂
