Podcast app crashing in iOS 9

I just installed iOS 9 on my iPhone 6. When opening the podcast app I get a white screen, "Updating Library" and then it crashes after about 15 seconds. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've quit the app.

Restarted the phone.

Tried putting phone in airplane mode and opening the app.

Same result each time.

Help!

iPhone 6, iOS 9

Gosh that just *****... mine hasnt been working either and have been trying to use another app called OVERCAST for my podcasts, but i have all my junk organized in APPLE's podcast app... since they're the geniuses who started it! LOL Oh well... i hope they fix it soon, because I AM A PODCASTER and cant even listen to my own podcasts on my PHONE... ridiculous! i wish i could just go back to IOS8 now until the fix.

Hallie.....by this time, Apple definitely knows there is a problem.....not only are there dozens of these pages on their web site ....but it is at least a Podcast issue. My phone was restarted twice....the last was a total wipe to new.....reload everything new and individually .....HORRIBLE torture .....and the Podcast crashing issue remained. I trimmed, deleted , and turned off everything everywhere I could think of ....rebooted...checked updates....same. Then I listened to the others...change to Overcast....so far...so good ....it's all Apple's problem from the way I see it. I would gather it might be " normal " at an initial download when it's brand new and so many are stressing the system.....but that doesn't explain the Podcast App Crashing and no other issues. Further, when I phoned Apple Care...I too was told they don't know what I'm talking about....except they couldn't find any thing on their end about Podcast's being iOS9 ??!!! Huh ? If only Podcasts are your issue , I'd try Overcast.

Same issue here.

In my case I think that the updating library simply doesn't work correctly. I checked the list of podcast through the Storage setting and could only see 3 out of x podcasts. For these I had an information of the space they take, for the others the space used is called "Document & Data" (some 1.3GB in total).

Not sure yet if I want to go back to reset the app as it would mean to search for the podcasts I set up all over again ... and too bad to say .. I can't remember them all (guess I might consider that those I don't remember were not worth while ;-)) ...

anyhow, until no overcast, soundcloud are interesting apps, but they don't do the things I liked about podcast (i.e. the sleep timer)

And thanks to all of you posting the direct feedback links to apple ... I usually try to avoid them as I find the support pages pretty much useless / counter intuitive. So your links helped to add to the feedback 🙂

fhontoy: I'm brand new to Overcast and haven't found " it ' yet.....but if you read the iTunes App listing for Overcast, it lists " sleep timer " as an option. Most of the perks require the pay option....but all say it's worth it, so I went for it....and so far very happy.

Also....you might find a list of your podcasts in your iTunes app ....I did. Overcast says it it can import some podcasts, but I don't know the limitations .

Thank you mulelady!

You are right there is a sleep timer option, but it is in the paid version of Overcast, which is why I didn't test it yet. I'm new at Overcast and thus still figuring things out 🙂

Thank you for the idea with the list of podcast. Good point, sadly that's part of an error I made: It belonged to the things I didn't synchronize with iTunes .. so it seems, that I'm lost there too. .. but I'm used to problems with iTunes ;-)

My iPhone6 is still not working after a total restore as described w/ the iCloud backup.

My Podcast app still crashes after trying to load the library. I have tons of storage available to it (>40GB) so it shouldn't be related to a memory or storage issue.

Very disappointed with this iOS9 update. I hope Apple has software guru's working 24x7 on getting patches out, and I hope more that they determine how this was missed in testing before they had many of us blow a weekend trying to put our gadgets back together.
