visual voicemail not working in iOS 9...

I just updated my iPhone 6 plus to iOS9. When I open the "Phone" app, there is a message at the top of the list of my calls:

Visual Voicemail is currently unavailable.

Call Voicemail

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

I finally got it to go away. I had to enable cellular data and that made the red dot go away. The "Visual Voicemail is currently unavailable" message went away. It comes back if the cellular data is disabled, even if you are using Wi-Fi. This never used to be an issue prior to the upgrade. My carrier is Verizon. I've always had it disabled so I don't end up using data.

Thank you. I logged into my ATT account online and reset my voicemail password and this worked like a charm... All my voice messages showed up that I had not received for the last 2 days and the Visual voicemail notified me I had a voicemail and a pop up with the voicemail messages. I tried everything else that I was told to do and nothing else worked except this.

I had this same problem after updating to ios9. I fixed it by simply going to "Settings" and then "Phone" and then to "Change Voicemail Password" and then entered a new 4 digit code. I turned my phone completely off and then back on (not sure if necessary but this is what I did). After the phone came back up when I returned to look at my voicemail by tapping the green phone icon at the bottom of the phone screen as usual my visual voicemail was there again. Right after the upgrade instead of seeing the visual voicemail the phone was dialing voicemail instead of showing the visual voicemail interface on the phone but changing the password as explained above and turning off my phone and then back on seemed to have fixed it.

Also, can't remember if I turned the phone completely off before doing the steps to change the password. If I did do that then it would have proved that turning the phone off and back on without changing the password was not all that is needed. Since I can't remember I'm wondering if just the turning off and back on was what is needed. If you and others already turned your phone completely off and back on without fixing then perhaps what I said above is true that you need to change the password like I did and then turn the phone off and back on.

I Had the same problem with an iPhone 5 after the iOS 9 update. I tried all the fixes above by changing my password both through the phone and ATT, turned off my wifi to force connection with ATT, reset my network settings, turned off the phone and back on, and talked with ATT. Nothing worked. Then, in sheer desperation, I shut my phone off for two hours. As if by magic, visual voicemail is now back. It must be voodoo,

I tried several suggestions, but finally went to att.com and went through the steps to reset Visual Voicemail. That worked. But-- doing all these things takes time! My problem is that when Apple becomes aware of the issue, they should issue a statement and either correct the problem or give users the correct instructions to fix it. Ironically, my husband's 6 was fine. I also realize I'm preaching to the choir with this remark and the emotions behind it!

Yes that works. I have an iPhone 5 and thought I was screwed with the upgrade but this fixed the problem. Anyone else with a 5 having battery issues as a result of the upgrade? Mine plummets throughout the day even with no use. I And yes, I made sure all the refresh apps is shut down and disabled all location services. When I check the usage ( which you can do on low battery mode) it says my Home and Lock Screen takes 54% of the power. How is this possible if I am not even using it??????

I am having the same issue after updating to iOS 9.0. The voice mail tab dials voice mail instead of showing visual. I updated to iOS 9.0.1; still same issue.

Performed Reset Network Settings, Hard reset. Doesn't work.

Went to "Settings" and "Change Voicemail Password" and then entered a new 4 digit code. Doesn't work.

Dialed 611 and went through the automated voicemail password change menu. Doesn't work.

NOTHING WORKS!

Is there any Apple support on this issue?
