Ios 9 cant enable mobile data for application(s)?

I was traveling while upgrading my device, and most seem to work as expected so far.

Since I'm careful with roaming charges, I disabled most of the apps from the mobile data setting page before I left, so I could read mail abroad without using alot of data in the background.

After upgrading to IOS 9, I can't seem to enable mobile data for any new apps.

The ones that were already enabled, is fine.. they can be disabled and then enabled again, but for example spotify refuses to use mobile data after the update,

I've restarted, soft reset, and every time the mobile data checkbutton is back to off if I go out of settings and in again (and it doesn't work).

Anyone else have this problem?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9, IOS 9, mobile data settings

I'm having exactly the same issue. Any apps that were switched off for mobile data use before the IOS 9 update will not now switch back on. I've reset network settings to no avail. Deleting the apps and reinstalling them doesn't seem to work either. I thought about using one of my recent backups to iCloud but oddly since the IOS update I no longer have any phone backups despite me previously backing up pretty regularly!

They knew about the problem even since iOS 8 (!!!) - as there, it wasn't possible to turn mobile data for some apps OFF - like iTunes and App store, Passbook and more. And THAT was the reason why I updated to iOS 9 and 9.0.1 - because app updates used up all my monthly mobile data allowance as Wifi went down for a minute, and I'm now throttled to MORSE CODE SPEED for TWO WEEKS.

Did you ever have to use yor mobile at such a "speed", Mr. Cook? For a day? For a WEEK?? You should be condemned to do so!!!

All the BETA versions that Apple releases are a joke, as there's almost no way to report bugs that have been found,
And all I see that from one to the next version of a Beta, some emoticons appear and disappear, or the keyboard behaviour changes back and forth - they are just killing time with silly gimmicks that nobody needs or even asked for, and instead they RUIN the BASIC features that made an iPhone so special - like a flawless sync of contacts, appointments and notes with OUTLOOK (2003!!!), the initial reason why I got an iPhone.
Meanwhile, iPhone is worse than the helpless crappy Nokia software available around 2003-2005.

The whole ( i)Cloud crap doesn't work properly.
Not a single iOS versin ever after 3.1.3 has been working from the start, they always needed NUMEROUS bugfiy updates.

Updating from iOS 7 to 8 broke my SD card reader devices that no longer could be used with my iPad air.

I got myself ANOTHER reader working with iOS 8 and I didn't dare to update the iPad yet, as I CAN BET it will BREAK the card reader again,

APPLE - I'm DONE with your products. I wouldn't accept such an amateurish crap with a 50 dollar device - let alone a SEVERAL HUNDRED dollar device.

Steve would revolve in his grave, if he knew ...

I won't comment on your iOS 8 problems other than to say that my daughter who, unlike me, does have a data limit, was able to turn off those apps' data use. Maybe for the app updates, she simply turned off auto-update? I do that myself too - only because i like to feel in charge (even if it's illusory :-)

As far as the BETA is concerned, you're completely wrong. There's an app you download when you enter a beta called "Feedback Assistant". You can write all the bugs you want through it. Either you haven't used a recent beta (I think Feedback Assistant appeared around iOS 8?) or you didn't pay much attention - either way, maybe calling things you don't know much about a 'joke' might be a little strong.

As far as your SD readers not working - if it wasn't made by Apple or at least endorsed by it, maybe you buy it with an expectation that it *won't* work in the future.

I have to say that pheb is absolutely right. The Feedback Assistant seems to be practically useless since you DO NOT GET ANY FEEDBACK from it.

The Safari lockup bugs, the cellular data application bug in this thread, the News app that locks the whole system up, and on and on.

And that is just on my devices. iPhone 6 , iPad 2, etc, etc.

I have absolutely loved Apple products over the years but even I have to say that the whole testing process before release must be broken because we are getting way too many bugs upon release.

Anyway. Apple please spend more time on getting things right. Test. Test. Test. Not just adding emoticons for gosh sakes. We love you Apple but everyone has their limits when they cannot do their work.

Apple. Please give us some indication of when this will actually be fixed. You seem to be able to send me iTunes sales promotions. Why not inform us of when software problems like this are being addressed. The WORLD is waiting.

Thanks.

I completely agree that Apple needs to do a much better job fixing critical problems before releasing software. My daughter has been bit by this particular one when she updated to 9.01 from 8.41. But that doesn't make the beta a "joke". I have submitted several bugs in the two betas I've been part of - and several have been fixed (although not necessarily in the initial release in whose beta I reported them in). I wish Apple developers sent me a notification when my bugs are fixed, but I understand that with potentially millions of bug reports, I can understand why that is not being done (but it should - if thousands of reports point out the same problem, the developer should work one of them and the others should be marked as duplicates and attached to the worked one, Then when it is fixed, all reporters could automatically be notified.)

Seems there's "white washing agents" on here - ah well.

I've been following the betas since about iOS 5, and what I mainly remember if it is various attempts to change the keyboard back and forth, special characters by keeping keys "depressed", then not again, then again, or characters getting big or small - that seemed to occupy the developers for months.

I remember fried wifi chips where Apple wouldn't say anything to it although it was long clear ...

I remember TONS of wifi and network problems over SEVERAL versions AND bugfix releases of iOS.

Excuse me, but ... let us count:

ios 4 - how many bugfix releases?

ios 5 - how many?

ios 6 - how many?

ios 7 - how many?

ios 8 - how many?

ios 9 - well ...

Guys - that's SIX years.

If the automotive industry would be releasing such failures over such a time, they'd all be liquidated meanwhile.

I'm a programmer by profession for 35 years.

Wat Apple delivers here is MORE than unacceptable.

It's lousy bloody amateur crap.

Testing and quality gates don't seem to exist.

Erm ... HOW much do they charge for such devices?

Highly ridiculous.

Totaly agrees with the last messages uper....

Well, Apple just launch to public BETAS versions & Forgor some IOS users need them Iphones / Ipads for work, in my case i can't use Map/GPS anymore, I can't use my Drivers app ( like UBers etc... ) i can't use the app serve my for traveling, Airline company's, i can't Tweet & the cherry on the cake, i can't receive or reply to any Mails when i am OUTSIDE ! & without WIFI !

This is completely unacceptable !

I read about the solution to restore without loading the last backup & restore from a New Iphone....ok, with this solution, i can backup my Music, Photos, videos, contacts...

But i will loose all my TXT messages, my Notes...my Voice messages, the Save content backup attached to some Pro_App ( & it's not GAMES ! ) some mails i stored on my Devices ONLY & who are removed from my Mac's ....& More ! so the option to restore as a new Iphone is for me impossible !

If it's the ultimate solution for retreive a functional Device , well, i conclluded i can't trust on OSX, Itunes, Icloud, IOS, & All the Apple Devices ! so for me it's enough....& i do not forget to mention ; where all the MAC/IOS users paid the full high prices for that !

I'am done with you Apple, you make me waste to much time with your crap Update & my time is money ! the same for OSX since LION !

Enough it's enough.....

I hope all the mac customers going to begin to understand the way them have to take !

iOS 9 mobile data for application.

After new updates to iOS 9, I had a same issue with mobile data to turn on for Apps.

This might happend b'coz it was not fully downloaded and install properly as so many people downloaded on same day.

To fix this issue I followed Reset function for all my services under Settings -> General -> Reset with all differnt options but had no luck.

Finally, today I did factory reset with iTunes and works all fine now Also, I found under Settings - > Cellular (new changes) instead of Settings - > mobile data .

I hope this might can help others too.

Thanks

LUckily, I am having the same problem. i was enjoying my new phone for two months and now it is totally a mess. It is really tiring to keep calling the mobile carrier and apple support just to fix these issues with no luck. I made troubleshooting and even updated to ios9.0.1 but with the same result. I am loosing patience since its been a week and I am paying huge for my mobile monthly plan just to waste it. i hope if not apple, somebody could help me get through these issuesa.
