Ios 9 cant enable mobile data for application(s)?

I was traveling while upgrading my device, and most seem to work as expected so far.

Since I'm careful with roaming charges, I disabled most of the apps from the mobile data setting page before I left, so I could read mail abroad without using alot of data in the background.

After upgrading to IOS 9, I can't seem to enable mobile data for any new apps.

The ones that were already enabled, is fine.. they can be disabled and then enabled again, but for example spotify refuses to use mobile data after the update,

I've restarted, soft reset, and every time the mobile data checkbutton is back to off if I go out of settings and in again (and it doesn't work).

Anyone else have this problem?

I'm having exactly the same issue. Any apps that were switched off for mobile data use before the IOS 9 update will not now switch back on. I've reset network settings to no avail. Deleting the apps and reinstalling them doesn't seem to work either. I thought about using one of my recent backups to iCloud but oddly since the IOS update I no longer have any phone backups despite me previously backing up pretty regularly!

Hi everyone, I had the problem and you can fix it by downgrading to ios8 (do a local backup first!), I followed the instructions here: http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-to-downgrade-your-iPhone-or-iPad-from-iOS-9-t o-iOS-8.4.1_id73875 (please note: step 4 may be wrong, I entered DFU with the instructions in https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/DFU_Mode but the rest is ok). I hope it helps! None of the other tips worked, and I guess we'll have to wait until Apple releases a real fix to ios9 to update!

with IOS 9 you can not do anything. It will stay blocked

You have to restore backeup from IOS8. Its only solution which is working.

I tested before all other possibilities with NOK result.

- Erase all content and settings ---> back-up from IOS 8 from icloud ---> OK. Its working 😍

I tried also to switch off and on mobile or cllular data for few applications and data are saved. No issue anymore. Everything is unblocked

You can't go back to lower IOS only restore back-up

EVERYONE PLEASE LISTEN. I posted this a while ago, but it seems to have been ignored.

Yes, you need to downgrade to fix the problem, but you can then UPGRADE TO IOS 9 AGAIN once you have followed the steps below. I am now running iOS 9 with no problems, having had the same problems everyone here is experiencing.

Steps:

  1. Downgrade to 8.4.1
  2. Restore from backup (I had an 8.4.1 backup lying around. I don’t know if you can restore from a 9.0 backup so YMMV)
  3. Once all apps have installed following the restore, ENABLE MOBILE DATA FOR ALL OF THEM
  4. Upgrade to iOS 9.0 OTA

BOOM. Done.

You can now turn off and on mobile data for all apps.

Only downside is that if you’re restoring from an 8.4.1 backup, you’ll lose anything you’ve accumulated that wasn’t backed up since the 9.0 original upgrade. I lost a few days of messages. I can live with that.

All the best,

What do you mean temporary? I'm running iOS 9 and no longer have the problem. I mean, clearly, when Apple release a fix it's Happy Days for people who haven't followed the instructions to solve it on their own, but I'm not currently waiting for them to do that in order to fix it because the problem has been fixed by following the steps I outlined above.

What is it you expect on a forum like this? Isn't it for people to come up with workarounds so they don't have to wait for Apple to fix it before they have a working phone?

I'm just not sure what you're getting at. Are you saying the solution isn't good enough for you because it didn't come from an Apple update? You seem to be simply stating that the best fix would be for Apple to fix it so people didn't have this problem.

Well, I wholeheartedly agree with you, but how is stating the obvious moving the conversation forward in a positive way or helping in the least?

well, first of all, not everyone is good at this downgrading stuff like you, you need to admit this, right?

secondly, yes, for sure everyone can do downgrading and upgrading stuff to fix it. But the problem is, who made this bug and it means this bug is no longer exist if we do downgrade trick?

the reason I want to highlight this bug is because we need to remind software engineers in Apple not to make same mistake again. If everytime we fix the bug by downgrading and upgrading tricks, then that *****.
