Issues with "Groups" in Contacts after iOS 9 upgrade

User uploaded file

Hello,

I am having two issues.

1. My groups in contacts are no longer in alphabetical order after upgrading to ios9. I have tried removing them via the iTunes sync and then adding them again and all it did was resort them in another random order - not alphabetical. Has anyone else had this issue? Do you have a fix?

2. Contacts used to remember which Group I had selected for viewing. Now, after ios9 upgrade, each time I go into contacts via direct or by "Phone", ALL my Groups are checked instead of the 1 group I had chosen, so ALL my contacts appear.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

iPhone 6, iOS 9

I downgraded to iOS 8.4.1 due to this issue. Same on iPad, too.

I too am having exactly the same problem. I checked my Contacts in iCloud and all my Groups are in alphabetical order but since going to 9.0 and 9.1 all my groups are out of order on my iPhone 6 despite being in alphabetical order in iCloud. I am amazed to read that Apple Support are unaware of this huge problem which needs a fix asap as this problem is a real inconvenience.

To all: from my experience it seems very few people actually use groups or even know how. Example: neither the iPhone OR the iPad has the ability to add groups or the ability to move a contact from one group to another or even be in numerous groups at once. "Nesting groups" sounds like a GREAT idea, myself I would like to see the ability to add numerous notes to a contact without making one long one.

It seems that using the phone to make productive phone calls is the last on the list of functionality, it took Apple forever to add the contacts name above the number instead of to the left were it was being condenced if the title was too long.

With all the profit Apple has, I'm shocked how long it takes to fix OS issues. Hire better quality control people, and develop a system to expedite issues. It would also be a good idea to add a few people to respond to blogs like this one, so loyal customers know that when Apple drops the ball they will reasure people it's not only being addresses there is a time line given for when it will be fixed.

There is another "force-sync" issue with iOS 9.0.1. Previously you can drag group contact list down to refresh gmail contacts (Apple do not suppoort gmail push anymore). But this feature has disappeared in iOS 9. Now you will need to wait up to the the Fetch interval time under Settings --> Mail, Contacts.... not happy.

Just noticed another thing... at the bottom of the All Contacts list, I was always able to scroll way down below the last entry and see the number of Contacts listed; now, it SOMETIMES is there, and other times does not show. I seem to be able to get it to show again by "force quitting" Contacts app by double clicking Home button and removing it from Recent Apps screen, and then opening it again.

With so many of us suffering this issue I find it incredible that Apple are staying quiet and not responding. The least they could do for all us sufferers is to send out a response giving us notice when they intend to fix the problem. Shocking customer service from a company who prides itself on great customer support. Come on Apple, sort this issue out quickly.

Sumherst,

It is what it is, I myself am a little surprised no one from Apple Chimes in and says it IS going to be fixed AND be better. How about being able to change a contact from one group to another on our device ?? YES I know you can do it on iCloud, though you need to be on a computer.

My added feature dream list:

1) Change a contact's group within the device

2) Folders for groups

3) Select a group to email or message them (YES I know you can do it in email, but it's a VERY sloppy execution)

4) If you have numerous contacts assigned to one company, have their name show up in a text instead of just the company name

5) add numerous notes to one contact (i.e. "new note) instead of just one big area to add a long string of notes

6) Numerous pictures to one company contact. so you can "see" who is calling when you have numerous contacts assigned to one company (i.e. assign pictures to phone numbers, not just contacts)

IF these ideas are too complicated for the "average user" then either hide the added functionality or sell/give us another version of the IOS for professionals. Not everyone uses their iPhone for just updating facebook. 😠
