Issues with "Groups" in Contacts after iOS 9 upgrade

something else which doesn't seem to be addressed above:

my phone is synced with my work Outlook Exchange server address list.

i Used to be able to go into groups and search for a colleague. Once I find the colleague, I can open his contact card, make amendments and press save.

tthese amendments would then be saved for future use.

the most common amendment I make is changing the mobile telephone number to include '+' at the start, in order for what's app to recognise the number.

without it, my work exchange server lists all country codes without the '+' at the front.

since ios9 these amendments I make have been lost.. And even if I try to replicate, once I force close the contacts app, it loses the changes.

this means any colleagues whose contacts I downloaded from the exchange server will not show on whatsapp.

please fix!!!

I'm sadly adding myself to this growing list! 😟 Very frustrating - for many of us, we use our Contact Groups often and this, seemingly random order of Groups, is somewhat of an inconvenience! I'm up-to-date on all devices i.e. iPhone, iPad and Mac as of 1 Oct 2015 and the same issue persists. I've tried numbering the Groups i.e. 01, 02, 03 and so on with no luck! Nothing seems to work and I've even found trying many of the ideas that others have tried only produces a different random order of Groups within my contacts. This is definitely an oversight that needs fixing fast! Hopefully if enough of use complain, Apple will be forced to work on a bug fix for their next update?

I'd strongly recommend everyone with various GROUP Contacts issues to report as a bug to http://apple.com/feedback.

I've just found another GROUP list bug: By deselecting "All Facebook" list, all Chinese char contacts are spaced by an extra # between 2 adjecent contacts and the highlight always goes back to the top of their list, which is located immediately after the last English contact.

My view is that this particular part of the software has some major bugs.

Search Bar disappears in Contacts everytime searching for any contact details. After restarting Contact App, Search Bar is restored. As Contact Details are opened again Search bar disappears.

Issue is the same even after updating iOS 9.0.2 in iPhone 5C

Thanks for reporting this. I thought it was my contacts app that was causing the problem.

I've been having the same problem on my iPhone 6, currently up to iOS 9.01. I don't understand how others are talking about 9.02, it doesn't even show up as an available upgrade for me. I did follow the advice in one of the other replies, and submitted feedback to Apple on the issue; maybe if enough of us do it, they'll finally take a look at it.

I just upgraded to 9.0.2 with bated breath (I guess I must have missed the notice for the update as it just reminded me to upgrade). Alas, my contact groups are still a mess. Gosh, I've been using Apple products for, what, a dozen years now? I used to enthusiastically promote their stuff but lately I've been telling folks that Apple quality is not what it used to be.

Someone mention it was fixed in 9.1 beta 3, which is ahead of 9.0.2.

just went thru hoops with apple. they don't seem to know anything about downgrading. can u tell me how to do that? not looking to go thru any more hoops later tonight when I get home (doing what they suggest that will prob not do anything to help). thx

It has been my experience that the Apple Techs are blissfully unaware of postings of problems with their hardware and software. If I call them about an issue and mention that lots of folks are having similar problems–it's all over the internet–they are always surprised and say that mine is the first time they heard of the problem.

Same issue in terms of group selections not staying selected and reverting to all.

Happening on both 4Ss and continuing on to at a new 6S. All running 9.0.2

Hope for new fixed update soon... Duplicated contacts list is annoying.

Haven't noticed alphabetical issue. May not have enough groups to notice.

You cannot downgrade anymore. Apple has removed the signature for iOS 8.4.1. Go ahead to 9.1 Beta 3: follow the instruction on beta.apple.com. After you have registered your device for the beta program and added the profile to your device, you will get 9.1 Beta 3 as update. It's only available on your device in iTunes.
