Mr finch, thank you for comfirming in one of your recent posts that you consider Apple's silence on this bug as normal. I predicted this would be your opinion.
However you are wrong. I recently retired as an international CIO responsible for the computer and coms systems in 27 factories in 10 countries. I have learned that there will always be bugs. This is acceptable and expected so I do not blame Apple for introducing software with a bug, althought with some thorough testing routines this one could have been avoided. When bugs do appear there are three things users need:
1) does the company know about it? (have they acknowledged the problem as this mostly means they are working on it)
2) have they suggested or published a workaround pending a permanent fix?
3) Have they indicated a fix date.
It is my experience that most companies with the exception of apple have always provided all this. There have been occassions microsoft has even published alerts for people NOT to take an upgrade, etc. Often via reseller, websites, technical support companies etc.
THIS is normal. There are more that one example of this. It is standard practice.
it is NOT for the users to find a fix to this issue as you seem to suggest but for apple to do so. All we need from Apple is a statement covering my three points. Thats all.
I dont know what it means to be a level 7 contributor. I suspect its to do with longevity on the forum, but having this label might make people think that you speak with some authority, while in fact your contributions add nothing and you seem to be a mere apologist for Apple.
As such your contributions dont add any value and as you seem to hint at, it would indeed be better if you refrained from contributing.
