After ios9 update my emails with attachments won't open and say "message not yet downloaded from server". They were there previously. How do I get them back?

Looks like todays release of 9.2 has fixed the issue. Anyone with any comments?

Looking good thus far! Subsequent to updating to 9.2 on my iPhone, I downloaded emails with attachments into my inbox, I've created emails with attachments which are now in my sent folder, and I have deleted emails with attachments which are now in my rubbish/trash folder. All are fully intact. Prior to my having updated to 9.2, I would have lost some content by now.

I haven't noticed any loss of email content since installing 9.2 approx 6 hours ago. However I will not make an assessment or draw any conclusions before at least 48 hours after the install.

POst installation of iOS 9.2 - and extensive testing with IMAP last night and this morning - the problem doesn't appear to be fully resolved.

Whilst off-line from an active network connection, some embedded images within email messages are still not persistent - and must be reloaded when the network connection is restored.

HOwever, whilst off-line from an active network connection, initial testing suggests that document attachments do appear to be persistent and available.

Thanks for the heads-up will save a load of time testing.

Let's not rush things though...they had a very long list of things to fix in 9.1 and had to get 9.2 out sharpish in order to avoid a log queue of iPad Pro customers from banging on the doors.

Seems that maybe some Mail issues are resolved.

Has it really happened! Has POP been cured? And it got a mention in the update notes? I'm buying a lotto ticket!!

So far so good as 16 hours after installing 9.2 I've had no disappearing emails. I'll wait until 36 hours have elapsed before considering 9.2 to be a credible fix.

I sent several emails yesterday with imbedded photos From my iPhone 6.

I tried to review those messages today.

I was confronted with the "This message has not been downloaded from the server." message.

NO CONTENT of my sent messages was present.

I use POP/STMP email servers.

I will not use "the cloud" to store my email content.

I googled to find this thread.

I downloaded and installed 9.2

I checked to see if I could review the content of the emails I sent yesterday.

Placeholders are still there. Content is still absent.

Just did a hard shut-down on the iPhone 6.

Restarted.

Went to sent mail.

Still cannot view content of yesterday's sent messages.

Placeholders only.

Appears to me that 9.2 did nothing to fix this problem.

Please clarify: Are you trying to recover messages sent BEFORE you installed 9.2? If so, they are probably gone and unfortunately, that is no surprise. If you are having the same issues with messages sent AFTER 9.2, please post immediately.

I just sent a test message to myself with an embedded image.

I am able to view that message in its entirety in my sent messages.

However, I was able to view all content of yesterday's messages yesterday - but content was gone when I tried to view those same messages today.

We shall see how long the content of the message I sent today with 9.2 sticks around.

Peter, I was hoping 9.2 would recover the content from yesterday's sent-messages which were sent using 9.1.

As far as I'm concerned, we are lucky that Apple even got this working at all . . . assuming they did.

I will keep an eye on the test message I created today.

I still have the images that I sent in yesterday's emails.

I just have to re-create from gray-matter the descriptive content (technical images) that pertains to those images.

This was the first time I had attempted to rely on the iPhone for consolidation of images and technical content.

Learned my lesson there.
