spotlight search iOS 9 contacts not showing in results

The only thing that worked for me was going to settings>mail,contacts,calendar> scrolling down to the contacts portion and turning "contact found in mail" off. I did a test search and viola all contacts were there. I turned it back on and so far so good.

no contatcts showed in serch again !

Guy's, I had this problem and I at first I did a couple of temporary fixes but the problem returned. Then because I had iCloud, gmail and outlook contacts, I unchecked gmail and the problem went away for ever. I have not had a problem since. However, maybe that was not the fix Since I'm sure some of you sont have gmail. I am positive that this is an indexing or sorting problem. As a matter of fact, I have changed many of my settings trying to recreate the problem to shed some light in this forum but I can't break it! I am sorting the contacts last-first on both fields in the settings. Please change this sorting setting and see if it works. On my wife's phone it has never failed. Weird.

Spoken too soon. The problem is back. There seems to be no permanent fix.

yup me too **** it!!! basically spotlight for contacts is dead to me i moved contacts to my phone home screen and thats what I will have to use until they get this fixed.

Also in spotlight the only thing I have is contacts checked so what the **** is all this other crap coming up or suggestions? like top hits, applications etc?

annoying as all ****. Contacts should be first then the rest of the stuff or it shoudl be configurable. This really *** as I have loved using spotlight for my contacts.

Same problem here, iPhone 6 ios 9.0.2. I did try everything and it just solved the problem temporary.

SOmething interesting i found. go to contacts app, then hit groups. When they are all checked if uncheck just one group it takes them all off. Something is defietely wrong with the contacts app And i think this is all linkef

no change. I submitted feedback on the phone. this is rediculous.

ok its working. I deleted the exchange account and added it back in. Hit the exchange server a few times and now its working in 9.1 beta 4.

Nope. Still doesn't work. Deleted the exchange account, reset the spotlight search, reinstalled exchange account rebooted 4x between each step and still no contacts showing up under spotlight search. Where's Apple on this issue? 9 pages of no solutions and not one suggestion from them?

glorioso just confirming you are using ios 9.1 beta 4? Still working for me a day later

No 9.0.2 but thought the exchange tip may help. Nothing seems to work. Since the updates the contacts don't work, it freezes up, everything is slower, it resets itself randomly throughout the day and the battery life has been horrible. Literally had it plugged and and was losing power

I Didnt have the operational issues freezing etc but everything else the same. I would try the beta9.1

Dowloaded Bata and it still won't search all my contacts. Thanks for trying. More than I get from Apple.
