iPhone 6 updated to ios9 screen goes black when I open an app

I've been experiencing the same issue. iPhone 6 Plus going to black screen and having to soft reset to correct the issue (3 times in the last month). It just started this month. Also I've read where some have updated to 9.1 and it's corrected the issue. Well, I have the 10.3 update and I'm still experiencing the black screen. Also read, someone said to adjust the display screen from "standard" to "zoomed" and that corrected the problem for them. I will be trying that to see if it works for me. But, we shouldn't have to do that, it's an iPhone and we shouldn't have to change settings we like to correct an Apple issue with our phones. Trying the "zoomed" we'll see what happens...

Have you waited until the app open or when the screen goes black you immediately press the home button? mine it went to black screen too but i waited and it was just about 10 second and the app was opened

Same problem here. doesnt matter how long I wait the black screen stays. When I hit the home button the app appears for a split second before going away. Then I have to double tap home and choose it again to get it up. It happens to all apps including native.

I have the exact same issue. iPhone 5C. When this first occurred last week, I did a complete clean install of iOS 9 with iTunes. The problem was gone for 4 days but today it returned. This is really annoying, as it also occurs on the in-built apps like Phone or Messages.

yes I'm also experiencing this problem, i shut my phone off before i went to bed turned it on the next morning and it worked fine, but the problem came back not really sure what to do, went to the AT&T store and they couldn't help me said it was an apple issue. 😐

Hi Guys, when you say that your screen goes black does it switch off? Because this is the issue I am having with my iPhone5 after the update to iOS 9. I have forced restart more times that I can count and have erased all contents and settings twice and then restored from ICloud back up prior to the upgrade and yet I still have iOS 9. Before the update I had no problems, now I have a useless piece of metal.

No the screen is not off, it turns black. When swiping the notification screen down or shortcut menu up it is visible. Hence the screen can't be off.

Ah my problem is that the phone keeps crashing-for example is crashed twice in the last ten minutes, sometimes it won't switch on at all and then I have to plug it to charge it although it says that there is over 50% battery left. And 2 out 3 times it does't appear to be charging but losing power when plugged in (and I have tried it with all the different chargers I can lay my hands and its all the same, I have also checked to see if there is any debris and there isn't). I am at my wits end.

My problem went away after I rebooted phone holding power and home buttons

Had the same issue, and noticed a post here to reboot by pushing home and power button.

sofar, that seems to fix the behavior.... Although it may come back as it didn't start immediately after update to iOS 9 but a couple of days later.

anyway, it's gone for now so give that a try.

I am having this same issue and it is driving me nutty! Screen goes black when an app is opened and then I have to hit the home button to "reset" and then I can open the app. I also had the issue where my touch screen did not work at all after downloading iOS9. I did a restart by holding the homebutton and power button and that fixed the screen problem. Trying the reset again for this black out issue--that seems to have fixed the problem--at least for now!

Hi, I have the same issue and I'm sure the problem starts after I make a phone call using Nokia bluetooth car set. Everything works fine after I turn my phone off and on again. Still no solution other then turning the phone off and on, though.

Add another 2 phones to this list both myne (iPhone 6 plus) and the wifes (iPhone6) upgraded to iOS 9 and screen is going black the 1st time we open some apps others like bubble pro goes black everytime. So it's de some problem with iOS 9
