My text messages are delayed since updating to ios9.

Anyone else having this problem? I get some messages a day later and it shows the timestamp that the message was initially sent. Like I received a message today at 5:28 pm and it was sent yesterday at 6:05 pm. Some messages only have a 9 hour delay. People are not receiving all the messages that I send. I'm sending to apple and android users. I have an iphone6. I'm also getting a message from an unknown sender saying "service denied".

I went to Apple this weekend. I think my issue is resolved. I haven't missed any messages or received the service denied text (hope I'm not jinxing myself). They did what not iphone user wants to hear....they wiped the phone. I started over as a new phone. I mean completely new. The only thing that we saved were the contacts in icloud. Deleted all pictures and apps. It took my forever to download my apps again, but I think it was worth it. I had saved all my pics to my laptop, so I just uploaded those again. The tech said that starting the phone over is the only way to truly clear the cache and whatever bug might exist. He recommended doing this every six months. I will not go that far. I just hope this one time fixed the issue. I didn't realize how many apps I had until I started downloading them again. Good luck to those that are brave and patient enough to try.

The first thing I did when this all started (when it was still iOS 9.0.1 or 9.0.2), I did a complete reset since I didn't have much on my phone. I recently upgraded from a iPhone 5S to a 6S so doing a complete refresh did not matter to me. It did not fix the problem at all.

However, since the new iOS of 9.1, I don't think I have had any problems? I'm really not sure. I had a talk with AT&T after updating 9.1, and all of a sudden, it seem like I was receiving group messages. But to be honest, the past few days, I have not received any messages at all because since all my friends knew I was having group text issues, we started resorting to just using a 3rd party APP or just texting each other individually.

With that said, I am not sure whether or not my group messages work. However, for a few days since updating to iOS 9.1, I was receiving everything if it means anything to people.

I went the "new" phone route in early October and it didn't work for me unfortunately. I spoke with ATT again today and they said my case and the case with Apple on group messaging is still open. Luckily (and I hope I don't jinx myself) I have not had an issue in the past 5 days. It is really nice to be part of a group conversation again, but I know it probably won't last. I plan to update to 9.1 at some point today. After 6 weeks of dealing with this issue, I am in awe that it hasn't been completely resolved for what we pay for the phones and the service.

I have had the same problem on my 6s and I FOUND THE FIX.

I was getting text messages 3 days later or not at all from ALL Android phones.

I fixed the problem and immediately all the missed texts came rushing onto my phone and iMessage on my computer!

Settings>Cellular Data > Enable LTE> Change to "Voice & Data"

If it is already on Voice & Data, change it to Data, then go back, close settings (or restart your phone), re-open settings and then Settings>Cellular Data > Enable LTE> Change to "Voice & Data"

Hope that helps everyone 🙂

I've been following this thread from the start and I'm afraid your fix is only temporary. I just say that because someone else already tried that and it DID work for a short time but then started back up again. From all that I'm seeing, this is a fix that only Apple can take care of and they don't seem to be that concerned with it. I wish I could post videos here. I had a friend record what happens when I know I'm missing group texts and restart my phone. They all come flooding back in like crazy!

I haven't gotten a group MMS from my friends in weeks. I will occasionally get images several days after they are sent (correctly time stamped) from individuals.

I am on NET10 using ATT networks, outside Boston, MA.

I just received my first MMS with an image from a group by:

1. Turning off iMessage on my phone

2. Turning off Facetime on my phone

3. Deregistering iMessage for my phone at https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage

I did not get a flood of about 100 texts which I know I have missed in the last several week, but that's probably irrelevant.

This is at least another temporary fix. I will check in again here if this stops working.

I've found what's triggering this issue but haven't found a solution.

I'm in a group message of 20+ iPhone users. Never miss a message.

I'm also in a group of 7 iPhone + 1 Android. Miss a lot, and all them messages roll in after I restart the phone. Something within the group iMessage protocol is creating a panic that causes messages to get cached before they actually import into the message client when it recognizes a non-Apple device.

Additionally, it's restricted to the iPhone, and not the Messages client on Mac. Once the iPhone restarts, then the messages get delivered to both my iPhone and Mac.

Developers: now you know, so go do something about it.

Yeah, I have always received MMS from imessage-only groups.

It is definitely related to non iMessage people in groups.

I would sometimes gets delayed messages / pictures from imessage userswhen in a group with a mix, but again, the only way I have gotten an MMS from a group text with android users, since this issue cropped up for me recently, is to just turn imessage off.

I know that Net10 had problems with borked APN settings on ATT iphones, because ATT didnt let you in to manually set stuff. Since ios 8 or 9, I have not had to do the hack of putting in a tmobile sim to trick the phone into letting me into the APN settings. But when the APN settings were messed up, I wouldn't be able to get any pictures over text with any indivual non imessage users, and groups wouldn't work with just plain text messages.

But this particular issue seems more like an apple issue with their (also historic) problematic iMessage system.

My text messages are delayed since updating to ios9.
