Apps Stuck Updating after iOS 9

I agree, I don't keep a list of apps, thats ridiculous. I've had iPhones and iPads for 6+ years now and this has never happened. It does seem to be related to the auto update function though.

Hey Apple how do we get a tech person to actually reply to this issue? The other day I went to map a location and found that Google Maps had deleted itself! I would call in for help but my Apple care ran out not too long ago. Apple support, do you respond to these?

Thanks--I know keeping a manual list and being very careful about checking it is ideal (if you choose to update any apps at all). But after the fact, since I didn't keep a list on that particular day, I wonder if there's any trick for determining what was deleted? (Or equally bad, NOT deleted, but invisible and still taking up space.)

Re manual vs automatic--it's definitely NOT related to automatic updates. It's any updates. I've only ever done manual updates, and never update all, always selected app(s) one (or a few) at a time. Yet since iOS 9, about 1 in 5 apps self-destructs when an update is attempted.

I've learned my lesson and won't update apps anymore--but I'll miss bug fixes and new features as a result. Amazing that this has gone on for so many months.

FYI, yesterday, Apple Bug Reporter support responded to the 1/21 bug report I reference in my 1/21 post to this discussion. They have now closed my report in deference to what they called "...the original bug report your issue was duplicated to..." My Report ID had numerical precedence relative to "...the original bug report...", and I believe I had (and have) no way to access that other report. At any rate, I also hope Apple finally makes some progress towards resolving this issue.

There is a trick to know which ones disappeared if you have to reboot due to stuck installation. Open the App Store app and go to Updates. Skip "Pending Updates" section to get to the first section that says "Updated (month dd, year)" and look for ones that have the cloud/arrow icon instead of the "OPEN" button. The ones with cloud icon are those that vanished after reboot. You can tap the cloud icon to re-download. The re-downloads usually work for me and thankfully go back to place on home screen I originally had them. Still a big PITA though.

I've tried all solutions suggested here and elsewhere. Many of my apps won't update for months on my iPad Air 2. Currently running iOS 9.2.1. Incredibly frustrating wasting hours on a bug that should have been fixed ages ago. As a former Family Room Specialist at the Apple Store and somebody with nearly 30 years of Apple experience, these are the issues which make you wonder if there really is anybody addressing these issues if so many report it and cannot resolve. Since the mid-2000's, Apple beta/bug testing crew have been abysmal.

Anyone seeing improvement on this issue after iOS 9.3? It may be early, but I have had several app updates without the stuck installation issue.

A slightly related issue I have seen in iOS 9.3: I had one app that displayed an "update" available, tapping update appears to successfully update the app; it is openable after the update. However after visiting the AppStore, the app displays "update" again. This happened two or three times, after which the update finally appears to work.

I will say leading up to this update, the technique of restarting the phone via Accessability>Bold was working nearly 100% to restart installation of stuck apps. Apple appears to be chipping away at this issue, let's hope it's fixed in 9.3! ✅

I also haven't come across the issue yet. Haven't seen the false "update" bug myself though.

I have not seen the stuck update issue since 9.3, though I have seen what you describe when one has to press update several times for the update to actually being reported as being installed. Strange. This seems like a new thing in 9.3? Anyway, better than having updates that won't go through at all.

All of the apple ios apps use a trusted API. As the apps accessing the API are trusted, the API database of resources is shared. The "App Store" and "Safari" both make use of the secure network API to connect to trusted sites. The problem is, one of timeout. A connection to Apple's internal servers is first verified by certificate and then passed through to destination. The certification acceptance has a shelf life. Once that has passed, the connection is not passed through. A simple reverification of your device's certificate will allow your device to reconnect. Simple. Open the "Safari" app and go to "www.apple.com" (or your country's equivalent).

I had the same issue where I was updating a few dozen apps and they all froze. Some people suggest deleting those apps and re-downloading, but I have a much better solution. Don't do that! What a pain that is. Instead: just double tap to close the app store app, then re-open it and just go through and manually stop each update (press the blue squares next to each app). Once that's done, you can try again.

Still occurring for me on iOS 9.3.2 unfortunately (on both iPhone 5 and iPad 4), however if I simply stop and restart the app updates from the App Store app, there is no reboot required and no loss of data. It still occurs incredibly often and is a real pain, though.

Deleting and Reinstalling apps is very time consuming. You could try the following steps for a (slightly) faster resolution of error:

1. Sign out of iTunes completely from Settings
2. Reboot your phone/tablet

This will terminate all updates. Now you can either retry updating all or update them one by one.

BUt i reboot many time but it still happening again And again

and also i couldnt dowload any apps on apps store

i need a solution for that Please
