iPad won't load Google in Safari after iOS9.0.1 upgrade

I upgraded to iOS 9.0.1 today and now Safari gives me the message that it "cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server". I am in the UK and it is Google.co.uk that normally opens. However, I can't open Google.com either, because it switches automatically to the .co.uk site and give the message above again.

This is only happening on my iPad Mini. On my iMac Safari opens Google just fine. And on my iPhone6, which was upgraded to iOS 9.0.0 a couple of days ago, Google loads in Safari perfectly too.

I have cleared all website data from the iPad Mini (via Settings), restarted the iPad several times, and I have rebooted my wifi network server. None of this has made any difference.

On my iPad, every other site I have tried loads without any problem. The issue is just between Safari and Google.

Any ideas?

I Have not done the upgrade yet, to either my IPad 2, or the IPad 4. Cannot get google on the older IPad, but atm, can connect to Google on the newer one. I thought my husband had done something wrong - not that computer litterate - but it appears to be a Google/Apple thing! Can open Yahoo ok on the old IPad, so might have to use that instead. Tried deleting all the history, did nothing. Would be nice if Apple actually told people there was a problem instead of having to repy on like minded people on here! Shame! Time will tell I suppose.

I'm having this issue. I have an iPad 2 that was on ios7 (not sure of the exact version). Google won't load in either safari or the Google chrome app. I'm also having problems with the YouTube app. Videos will load they're descriptions but not play. Even an advert played but a video wouldn't. At first I thought Google had gone down but I checked on my phone and it worked fine (my phone is android). My sister upgraded her iPhone 6+ to ios9.01 (I think that's what it's called) and she is having no issues. All other websites such as bing and Wikipedia etc. work perfectly fine. I'm yet to try Google drive but I'm assuming it won't work.

IVe tried restarting my iPad, clearing the data in Safari, upgrading my iPad to ios8.1.4 etc.

this is is a nightmare.

HI all, I was experiencing this issue from about 5pm BST yesterday. After updating to iOS 8.4.1 yesterday, it still didn't work. However, Google just loaded on safari and the YouTube app is working again with videos loading. I suggest everyone tries again as I reckon it may have been something on Googles end.

Well, as the person who started this thread, I can also confirm I woke up this morning to find things had been fixed. Well done everyone for helping draw attention to this and getting a fix sorted quickly. I don't see anywhee that anyone at Apple or Google has admitted there was officially a problem. Normal. I don't ever recall them saying sorry, either.

So, until the next time.....

PS Has anyone noticed that when you start a new paragraph or sentence in the software used for this forum using Apple's revised "uppercase/lowercase" keyboard on your iPad Mini it randomly capitalises the first TWO letter. JUst like this? Not every time, just often. ANnoying!

All good here in Sydney - don't think I can blame Google UK! Now I can change back from Duck Duck ***. Reminds me of a, probably apocryphal, tale about a man whose Rolls-Royce broke down on the freeway. RR sent a mechanic who fixed the problem but when the man called the company later to thank them, they denied any knowledge of it, as "Rolls Royces do not break down, sir".

I think I found what the issue is. When you open Safari click on the new tab icon in the bottom right corner. When you do that it should pop up a toolbar at the bottom that says "Private" in the lower left corner. If you turn the privacy setting off it should give you full access to suggestions, favorites and top hits. This solve the problem for me.
